Went out looking to get a Mustang PP2, ended up with a Camaro.......
Well the story goes like the title states. I've been a mustang guy my whole life. I bought my first (and only) mustang when I was twenty years old. Went out and got a 2012 Mustang GT s197. I daily drove her like I stole it up to 80,000 miles. I had american racing headers, kooks catback, and a dynotune. Long story longer, I had to sell her last year when I moved away to New York City. Hated it, and moved back. I bought a subaru wrx back in Febuary and didn't love it. Started to get the muscle car fever again. Last week I went out to test drive mustangs because I really liked the s550. Started researching online and saw the numbers: the camaro - from what I could understand - was just better by every metric out of the box. Went and test drove a 1LE and the rest is history. Happy to be apart of the community. Plans for the car: eventually going to either go with a P1SC, whipple, or a maggie heartbeat. I'll run that on the canned tune for a while, or get a very safe dyno tune. Then, I'll eventually pull the trigger on the LT-4 fuel system and go up from there. This is my DD for now, however once the maggie goes on I'll garage it and pick-up a little shitbox honda to daily. I'm very inspired by all your guys' builds.

Welcome to the fold. Just curious, because I find it interesting to hear opinions from "the other side" , what your overall first impression(s) of the Camaro are, compared to the new mustang you test drove.
Thanks |

Awesome car to begin your Camaro journey with. The SS 1LE is the star of the 6th gen. So much capability for such a reasonable price.

Very cool. Enjoy your new ride. It should bake to a nice golden yellow in New Mexico sun. Then you’ll have the best color too

I found the power curve on the camaro to be alot more smooth and I enjoyed the longer gearing. The mustang has you shifting 4 times to get to 110 whereas the Camaro is right around 3, you need to rev that motor out to get the power. Honestly though, the 2018+ gen 3 coyote stock versus a 2016+ camaro is a drivers race. What sold me was the price of a 1LE versus the price of a PP2, how much you get with a 1SS 1LE, and how the 1LE drives. This car is insanely planted. After driving the 1LE I couldn't look back. I drove a 2SS A8 as well, and thought that car was just as good handling-wise as the performance pack GT. I like twisties and seeing as the 1LE handles better than the wrx I had, I felt it was the right choice. I'll always love my S197, it was my first love, but that car scared me going around corners. Not my style of driving. The PP2 was good, but the 1LE is insanely good.

I've been stopped multiple times this week by people asking about it. Honestly, the s550 may sell more cars, but the gen 6 is just a better car. It doesn't feel as cheap inside, has a better transmission, good motor - has enough capability for what I want to do. I'm an excited car owner again which to me is an irreplaceable feeling that I didn't have with the WRX. Happy to be here.
