I agree on that. But IMO the Camaro sounds better with the right exhaust setup.
Either way you go, you should get an aftermarket exhaust. I have listened to many aftermarket exhausts online of both cars and I could not find one of the Mustang that sounded better than some of the Camaro's I have heard. I loveee the way mine sounds. Much more throaty and deep compared to the Mustang.

well, if you wait for the 2012's you can get a back up camera on the Camaro. so that will take away some of the issues of backing up. also has the back up sensors that help.
the interior is being upgraded on the Camaro on the 2012's as well. i like the mustangs a lot. my neighbor has one, although it's a V6, it's still a 2012 and has the nice interior and all that. however, i like the Camaro's looks way more. if you play the which one is faster game, you'll never win. the mustang might be a bit faster now, but the next Camaro will be faster than that, then the next mustang, etc, etc, etc... get what you like the most. as Taylor said, the Camaro isn't that bad if you adjust the mirrors correctly. |

if you like the sount of the 4.6 i think you'll love the sound of the 5.0. they sound pretty awesome IMO. BUT for me, i love the way the LS1/LS6 sounds the most. that and the 03-04 cobras

If you are more into performance then what someone else thinks about your car's looks then get the 5.0L. Sure the Camaro SS L99 looks sexy but it comes at a price if you have mods and certain goals in mind like wbt said.

Honest third party opinion:
If you want the better track car, get the mustang. If you want the better cruiser/weekend warrior car, test drive both and make your own decision as they are very similar. If you want the more flashy, better looking, smoother car, get the camaro. This is all imo. Last edited by 8cd03gro; 08-01-2011 at 01:56 AM. |

it mostly depends on what exhaust system is run, but i do think the 5.0's are a better sounding engine IMHO. it really is just a matter of preference

stock auto for auto the mustang will win in a race quite handily. manual for manual is a drivers race.

That's all personal preference. No one can tell you what sounds best to you. I've heard (and had) Mustangs that sound great and I've heard (and had) Camaros that sound great. It's hard not to like an LS engine's sound especially with a cam. Personally I think mine sounds fantastic.

I think mustang 5.0's has the best v8 sound in its class. That 5.0 exhaust note is tuned perfectly. I dont think you can go wrong with either. Every magazine and video tests seem to favor the lighter 5.0 in perfrormance and handling.
Now if the op was to ask boss 302 vs an SS, I would tell you to get the 302 with no question asked. I never really liked ford until they broght the 5.0 back and especially the boss 302. If you have a little extra money the new 2012 roush look soooooo tasty. |

Both cars will average between 12:80 to 13:30 in the 1/4, depends on the driver and conditions. Forget the ridiculous claims from both sides that can't be duplicated. Both cars can be modified to perform much better, all depends on your checkbook as to how fast you want to go.
IMO I do not care for the 5.0, been a Ford guy for the last 25 years but the 5.0 seemed kind of boring to me. I'm not saying that it isn't a strong performer just it didn't excite me the way the SS did, or my 04 Cobra did. Needless to say when it was time to replace my worn out Cobra I went SS.

I test drove the new 5.0 and the new SS. Overall package, i liked the SS better. Plus I do not see many on the road like i do mustangs.
I've owned several mustangs but love the LS motor's better. *see sig*
