Turn signal issue

Last time I drove the car (like 3 weeks ago) I noticed the front passenger side turn signal was out.
Due to the weather I didn't have a chance to check it until yesterday.
When I popped the hood, this is what I found.
Has anyone experienced this?
Is there anything I can do to prevent it?
Everything snapped firmly back into place but I can't figure out how it popped out on its own.

Maybe it was never fully snapped into the socket from the factory and it just took this long to work itself loose?

Likely the case - that does happen.

Perhaps.
I'm just glad it wasn't the driver's side. That looks like a bear to get to.

Not all that difficult, I was able to install an LED replacement after lifting and propping up the rubber flap that is only on the driver side. (Unless the ZL1 front is even less roomy than the SS, of course.)
