Skip shift and rev, match

So what does people think of the skip shift and the new rev match on the 6th camaro, I ordered mine with a manual transmission and Im worried about the skip shift going from 1st to 4th.

I had skip shift on my 99 C5 and had it programmed out when the car was tuned. Was not a fan! Hopefully there will be a way to program it out!

I heard the 6th gen has improved drastically with the skip shift, I know the 5th there is a module to install, I bought a manual to enjoy the feel and control if shifting and they take gears away, Damn. but I cant wait.

If you don't like the skip shift, I can guarantee there will be a piggyback harness out to remove it. Some people hit it a lot, some don't. Depends on your driving style. I will be removing it regardless, always have in the past too.

I've driven a C7 with rev match, it's very cool. But, if it's not your style it can be turned off with a flick of one of the rev match paddles.

The skip shift isn't an issue, all it is on the 2016's is a message on the dash that says to shift from 1st to 4th for better milage, it doesn't stop you going through the gears at all.
Also, the rev match is great and if it gets annoying, it is just a tap of the paddle to turn it off.

Really? There should be a solenoid that blocks 2nd when skip shift is active. At least that's how it is on my 4th gen. Disabled for less than $1 by putting a resistor in the harness!

Ok i thought it wont let you sift from 1st to 2nd at certain times it only allows you to shift to 4th, ok if thats the case then i am not too worried about it.

If it does block you going from 1st to 2nd, I haven't found it yet. I have done a few hard launches, not as much as I want since I am just at about 100 miles so far, and it always just pops the message up but I can go into 2nd without an issue.

If it still works the standard way, it's really freaking annoying.

According to the manual its supposed to force you to 4th when the message comes on.

Maybe someone at GM slipped in some "cheat code". Shhh, no one tell the EPA...

what is the point of skip shifting? Is it to manage the RPM and gear ration for better performance or fuel economy or just o be a pain in the ass. when you do skip shift is the engine going to bog down and lower the RPM to prevent over rev. While waiting for mine I am going to go test drive one like Jeff Gordan give my salesman a ride.

It keeps the rpms low during easy acceleration for fuel economy.

Thats stupid I dont by cars for fuel econmy If i did i would by a bicycle. I dont care abut fuel consumption.

However being that the manual transmission option does not allow AFM do we have to pay the extra Fuel tax, My dealer did not discuss that.

There is no gas guzzler tax on the Camaro. Its features like skip-shift which help to avoid the tax. Every little bit also helps with GM's overall CAFE rating so that they can continue to build cars like this.
