why do ricers have this on the roof of there car?

http://i56.tinypic.com/k50jrs.jpg

I see alot of hondas with that black thing on the roof. why do they all have that? Do they think it puts more weight down there for better traction? The sad this is I know all those guys. I never asked what its for though. I get annoyed when i argue with them So i thought id ask on here. But the hell is it?

Uh................ It's a rack to carry things that won't fit in the car.

Or am I misunderstanding the question?

Soon all Camaros will have them as well because none of us will be able to afford gas for anything else to carry around our stuff!

Well the first car is carrying snow boards. My guess is there is a use. It's not a "ricer" thing. The fart can, steelies, crappy paint and POS Honda are the ricer part. I've seen these racks on everything, including a lamborghini. It's utilitarian not ricer... unless they dont use it.

well, i can't see the picture, but i have never seen a cargo rack on any "ricer"

Not saying it can't happen, but it's not something that's common. Unless the definition of "ricer" to you is just an import from japan.

Real answer:

It's the trend right now with imports. Be it that you use it or if it just sits there on top of the car, its there for looks. Compare it to when you had to have altezzas, racing stripes, or huge wings on your car to look "cool". Rack visors are where it's at right now.

And there ya have it. Case closed.
