Is it worth the price?...yeah probably

Does it come with "Loads of stuff standard that are options on other cars"...no. The advance of technology makes it seem like a "huge value"..the LT1 replaced the LS3/L99, the A8 replaced the A6..and the coolers are standard..which in the aftermarket is about a $400 saving.

With looking at getting married in the next 16 months or so..I just can't justify it like I used to. $40,000 is more, adjusted for inflation, than a 2SS/RS with the accent package was 5 years ago...just not chump change to me.
Every thing has gone up in 6 years, my 2ss no rs was 34K in 2009, if you add RS and a A6 to that car was $37K today my new 2ss is $42.2K, so in 6 years price went up 17% and we got a lot more of a car.

Not sure why you would really complain about the price. A similarly optioned Challenger 392 comes out to $50k. I priced out a 2SS how I wanted it; I went with Garnet Red, Machine faced wheels, Kalahari interior, NPP, MSRC, Kalahari knee bolsters, silver center caps, and nav for my options. MSRP came out to about $46k, which is what the Challenger 392 costs w/o any options. The Mustang is a quite a bit cheaper, but it's less of a bargain in my opinion.

Car prices have gone up faster than inflation and pay raises. Yes, the car cost more. Vehicles are an expense/luxury item and not an investment.

If the prices are out of your range look at buying some econo box or a Miata/BRZ/used. Or buy a 2015 camaro on discount!

ill just leave this here:

How about an optioned out Cadillac ATS V6 (not even the V). $48,110 was base price before options.

This is a VERY valid point. Chevy dealers are famous for this crap. I am also in the market for a new Tahoe and most on the lots are fully optioned LTZ's that sticker around $75,000! In order to get one without the $3K wheels, $3500 "sight and sound", and $2500 power running boards, I will have to order it.

To all my friends mulling at the price of the 6th Gen Camaro,

Think about it as a Corvette Stingray with a back seat, then compare prices with a comparably equipped Vette. My buddy is waiting for his 2SS 6 Gen to come in, and honestly I think it's going to hang with my Stingray from a dig.

Do what I did! Many folks will likely be trading in the '16 6th Gen for a possibly available '17 performance variant (ZL1) much as I saw happen with the Stingrays. The Z06 came out for '15 and there were a ton of base cars on the lots with almost no miles. I bought my 2014 Stingray in July of 2015 with only 1,400 miles and saved close to $5000 off MSRP.

I don't get it - many threads about price but HOLY FREAKING S.... people.

go price out a 2016 2SS with NPP its $43,885.

and the 2015 2SS with same options is.....wait for it....wait for it................................................ .............$42,615 (added RS cuz 2016 includes that, NPP and short throw - again included in 2016)

I'm sorry, i've had about enough of the pricing complaints - yes, if you keep checking boxes on options that weren't even available last gen, and then all the other options, like $2000 wheel option...DUH!!!

come on, the price is nearly same option for option vs. last gen... sorry but this has to be said - time to shut the pie holes on the pricing.

go buy a Honda Civic you mindless freaks.

If you all haven't noticed there are a lot of brand new accounts now that the 6th Gen is out.

Some have obviously not read the rules, but it doesn't mean they should be called trolls in the 4th post. That just gets everyone off on the wrong foot.

Carry on without the name calling.

My only complaint about the 2SS is that it comes basically fully loaded, including features that I would not have chosen if they were options.

I would be nice to get HUD on the 1SS, or have a base 2SS be a 1SS with leather and HUD without the light show, safety package, etc.

I get that, but again, which car company does not do this same type of packaging to get you to buy up?

Again, not saying I like it, but not unique to Chevy or Camaro.

My issue with the pricing is that the price has gone up to put stuff on the car that I dont want there. If u want the options it is a good deal, if u dont want them it is a waste.
