I've been a Chevy guy all my life and I've had a number of Camaros and 5 Vettes. I love my current ride, but what I think would cause me to lean toward a Z28 is that you'd be hard pressed to meet another on the road while driving one! There will always be tons of Corvettes at any road course, but a Z28 will be scarce.

I agree with you since production will be limited, but the average joe on the street will not tell the difference between an SS and a Z28 other than the badging.
Unless you come across a hardcore fanatic that can appreciate how the Z28 is made.

Its never been a serious consideration for me to get a corvette. For a lot of years I wasn't able to afford a vette, so I never thought about getting one. Add to this, for a long period before my first camaro I didn't have a garage, so that was another deterrent to me in considering buying a vette.

It has only been during the last decade that I have had the ability to consider owning a corvette; However, for one reason or another I've found other model prospects more desirable. Its not due to the corvette in general (they are excellent), but more of a fact that the camaro and some other models have improved greatly in terms of powertrain (the LS motors are a performance and engineering triumph for GM), performance and handling, and overall build quality.

Then again, its certainly possible that I may own a corvette one day....just not anytime soon!

Well now I would say that this Z/28 is probably going to be the last naturally aspirated, performance trim level GM will build. That is a big reason to get one. The base cars will be N/A but with the Z06 going forced induction, it doesn't bode well for the next Z/28 staying N/A.

I think the question is the same as to why everyone on this board drives Camaros versus Mustangs.

Why buy a Camaro over a cheaper mustang with the same performance? Cause we like the Camaro better.

_____

And in all honesty...Yes I would buy the Corvette over a Z/28.

I'd buy a C6 before I bought a z28 and a z28 over a C7... I hate the C7 though .

Fixed . . . . . and for the vast majority of the membership here you absolutely nailed the only reason that really matters.

Because I want A/C, Stereo, and it would cost the same to get a used ZR1 and throw on some race tires for the same price

I think I have found my next car.

The new Z06 is powered by a brand new supercharged 6.2L LT4 engine, estimated to deliver better than 625 HP and more than 635 ft.-lbs. of torque. And the Z06 will be the only car in the U.S. that offers more than 600 HP, and a choice of two transmissions. The first is a 7-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching. The second is an all-new, high-performance 8-speed automatic, designed and built by General Motors.Read more:*http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/01/...#ixzz2qh8kdDlC

Welcome to Jan 17th Rip Van Winkle! Have a good nap? If you really gave a crap about the Z06 you would have been on the Monday live release like the rest of us.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz

All about the build numbers, z/28 will always be a niche limited vehicle. Person buying it knows that. Vettes are bad muthers, but there a dime a dozen. The cool factor in the Z/28 will have people worldwide selling it out.

...so, I ask...this is it? The Z/28 will for ever more be the top of the line uber priced Camaro beyond the reach of the regular guy? The ZL1 was some what attainable at 54,9K plus. How can Chevy go backwards from this IPO? Is there any hope heading to the next Gen Camaro that this stratospheric MSRP will not be at the same level?

I get the feeling this will be the last Z/28. I don't see how Chevy can bring it back with a blown Z06.
