My car doesn't do this...should it be??

I have a 1LT Camaro, and I've seen threads here before about a knocking type sound that comes from the back seat region of the car while driving. I know theres a purpose behind it, but I can't remember what it was.

Some sort of systems check, maybe?

Well, anyway, I've my car about 2 and a half months or more, and not once have I ever heard it. But when driving in my dads SS it happens once about 5 minutes after leaving the house, then again every so often while driving. I know there's nothing wrong with the car, because his 2006 GTO made the exact same noise.

So my question is, what exactly is this noise and why isn't my car making it?? Should it be??

Thanks in advance for any help

Fuel pump I believe, maybe your car has better insulation or something that deadens it.

i dont think the nocking was during driving... i get it after im done driving, turn the car off and sit in there for a while... i believe it is the gas tank releasing pressure...

Not really, but it could be you don't have a trunk monkey...

But what other people said is probably correct.

I know sometimes when I back up and stop, I can hear what sounds like a knock but it is the anti-lock brakes cycling.
