2 inch vs 1 7/8 inch header back to back test

Has anyone done one? I assume it would most likely be a shop. Going over to check CorvetteForum now, but figured I would post up here as well.

Pretty sure it was the corvette forum where a well known tuner said that 1 7/8 was best up to about 700rwhp

I've heard both answers.

I do know on the ls3 2 inch was best.

Been waiting for this myself. I posted this same question and was told 15 rwhp advantage for the 2 inch per CPR.

Let me know what you find out.

Really wish Janetty would do a nice comprehensive back to back test like they did with the ls3.

Maybe because the install is so intense. Except for maybe the Hookers. The 5th gen was a snap, probably only a couple of hours once you do it a few times.

Do we really know how much power any LT adds going through the stock exhaust?

Or because they sell arh and I don't see a 2 inch offering from arh. Only kooks and sw so far. Guessing this has something to do with mixed answers from other vendors as well.

One of the shops on here said 2" was the way to go, but I forget where they commented so can't quote it for you. It would seem that bigger is better, and it'll work out even better if you go for more power in the future, too (forced induction, etc).

Found it, it was Joe at CPR (but was also referring to tests on the Corvette, unfortunately):

On a stock motor? 1 7/8 is plenty and will support up to 700 hp and more, if you are building a motor up, tune, blower, big cam, stroked, ect. That might be better for the 2 inch headers. You might gain 10 or 15 hp and tq or even more. But on a stock motor I would stick to 1 7/8 and build up on that, what you won't see on a dyno is throttle response and that 1 7/8 will most likely give you better throttle response. Just my opinion

A local guy is an ARH dealer as well, I know he cut me a nice chunk off of the retail but I wouldn't mind hearing your pricing as well if you want to shoot me a PM. 2" to mate up to the NPP.

From the conversation I had with my local LS engine builder, 2" "might" give up some bottom end when naturally aspirated. Now he has yet to do anything with the LT, because let's face it there aren't many LT's getting stroked yet.

But our conversation was based on me choosing a header that I'll only have to do once. I'm picky and hate doing things two or three times. Since my plan is to eventually add a blower, we decided 2" headers would be best. Infact it might benefit from 2"+ but then you run into fitting it in the chassis.
