Brake pads

What the preferred pad for mostly street use, maybe 1 track day and a 1/2 mile day, OEM?

I've switched to the "Hawk Ceramics" and love them - Their great for street use and I can not tell the difference in braking - Added point is no brake dust on my wheels

I don't recommend Ceramics for the track (if we are referring to "track" as a road course and not a drag strip). They are a good option for the street though (and probably fine for drag racing.

Other than the dust, OEM pads are really good and are usable for the occasional track day (road course) if you are a novice or are willing to work with them. I used them until the wore down.

I use the Hawk Ceramic yellow pads to keep the brake dust down, but for track days , I switch back to the stock pads.
When I'm done at the track, the Hawks go back on till the next track day.

Amazon has the OEM pads right now for $206 for the fronts and $80 for the rears. I paid a little less on sale a few years ago, but that's a decent price if you need them.

OEM rotors are $288 each for fronts and $88 each for rears right now. Note, the fronts are side specfic.

Are the Hawk Ceramic quieter too? The noise and the dust drives me crazy on my DD

Yes, there is no noise or squeaking if you follow the instructions - Also, no dust on the wheels - Which I love

Those prices are with in $20 of Hawk ceramic pads. I would much rather have them than OE for your uses. The dusting is virtually nil.

For a street car, definitely, but the OP mentioned a track day, and I would not run the Hawk Ceramics on the track.
