Holy old thread Batman! So this site was around ever since there was a hint of making a new Camaro? Damn, learn something new every day. To answer the OP question thoroughly, it's simply the exhaust layout. Corvette has equal dual pipes, like a Mustang. Almost all Camaro's up until the 5th Gen had a transverse style muffler, especially the 3rd and 4th Gen's. They had a y-pipe setup like a truck that split the exhaust into 2 pipes @ the muffler. That is the number one reason the 3rd and 4th Gen Camaro always had its own sound. Don't get me wrong, I like how the 5th sounds, but it sounds so similar to a Vette now, it's hard to differentiate the two, unlike the 4th Gen's. They are like a Mustang. You know immediately by the sound what it is.

rumors, drawings, and finally talk of *maybe* thinking about building a concept are all why this place started.

Has anyone ever switched to true dual set up?

I wonder if anyone has ever got their Camaro to sound like this nasty ass ZR1 at roughly 1:42

I have seen people try to, but it just doesn't work very well. The chassis was never designed for it so pipe routing is a bitch. I helped a friend fab a setup that went under the axle and used 4x9x14 center in/out MagnaFlow with nice tips where the original pipes would come out. Looked very weird, like a G8 hybrid exhaust of sorts. Just didn't sound the same. He was trying to achieve that Corvette sound. Was the best we could come up with while being civil inside. Will say that it did sound good.
