Aftermarket Cylinder Head Help
Ok guys, I got my cam spec by GPI but if I go ported heads I have to wait a long time as they have no cores at this time and I don't want the car down 4-6 weeks if I send them my heads.
What aftermarket cylinder head options would be good for my small speced vvt cam like mine? Trick flow, AFR, darts? I assume I want the highest flowing smallest rectangular port ls3 head as I won't have a huge cam and bigger ports are not necessary and not great for low and mid range torque. When I was young AFRs always had the best flow numbers with modest port size but I am out of the loop with the LS3 type heads. I am being realistic and assume 20hp with an aftermarket head would be about it with such a small cam..... what are my options. Thanks |

RHS seems to be the more budget based heads, PRC is mid range and then AFR are slightly more. From the flow numbers I can find it looks like MAST,AFR and Trick flow are top flow numbers but the trick flows do it will a 255 intake runner. I know from experience that the smallest runner that flows the most is usually best on a street car but I have had AFR heads before and have great faith in them. I will buy the cam set up first I think in the coming weeks.

Anyone use these as cast cnc chamber PRC heads? These are a pretty good price for the flow numbers. I am thinking these or go all out with the AFR Mongoose but I don't know if my mild cam will really benefit with a high end head like an AFR over these.
