Axle back worth it?

2012 SS - A6
Long tube headers
No cats
Mid muffler delete
Tune
Cold air

I love the sound - loud under throttle and quiet at cruise speed.

I'm looking for my next mod (possibly trailing arms and sway bars)....but I keep on going back to should I just finish the exhaust off with an axle back?

I don't expect any power gains.....just sound.

I'm not interested in ditching the rear mufflers - I would replace them with another muffler.

Would you do it or not?

Thanks!

Not even worth the thought. Nope.
When buying exhaust your buying sound more than anything.

Maybe eventually I would, but the stock mufflers sound good. They're heavy though. You can get a set of dumps/diverters and get both sounds and gainz.

I run axle backs with the stock exhaust on both of mine and like them. i was getting a lot of drone with headers and put an SLP axle back in. Worked pretty good. Daughter wanted to make vert fast and loud so it got a Borla axle back. I bought both of them used though.

Exhaust mostly for sound not for actual hp gains. If you want it to be louder, go for it.

I think I'll leave it stock - the long tubes, no cats and mid muffler delete make it sounds nice.

I can use that $$$ on suspension mods - thanks everyone!!

Instead of deleting the rear mufflers, why not add some cutouts/diverters? Mild when you need it, wild when you want it.

When I had a V6, I ran the Mrt V2 Axle back on a cat delete setup. Mrt mufflers sounded good

The MRT V2 gives the V6 a deeper sound over the raspy sound of no mufflers. I agree if you are trying to get a Muscle Car sound, its the way to go for the V6.

I am not sure of your price range, or what you intend to spend, with all the different combinations you can go with, a straight up good Cat-Back like this Solo Performance is a good option. I run the Solo Performance for the Manual Camaro SS. I had it before headers, and Cam and It sounded great. Now with headers and Cam it sounds amazing.

+1 for Solo! I’ve had mine for years with and without headers and pre and post cam and it sounds great on all of these applications!

There is SOOOO much truth right there.
The butt dyno is hooked directly to the male auditory system tho.
