It's cheaper because it has less stuff, some of that stuff you may not care about, but others do.

Looks are subjective, I happen to think the front end of an LT1 isn't an improvement over the SS, but isn't bad either.
Yup.

Along these lines, I know my 2SS is inferior to a stock ZL1 in some ways, even if I have valid reasons to have made this purchase decision and even though my car has ~200 more crank hp and various other upgrades. I'm not gonna try to rationalize my decision by bending the truth.

It's nice to have variety and we don't have to convince everyone that we somehow made the Absolute One and Only Best Purchase with our cars.

No, I'm not "looking for a fight". I use sarcasm because clearly you feel your right no matter what. Even with the evidence, you still have to push mis-information and double down on it. You want to look like a fool? We'll help ya.

And, as to the other comment, no car is superior to the other. My car works for me and your car works for you for your own personal reasons.

Some people on the forum have trashed the LT1 since it was announced. Talking about how "inferior" it is to a SS. Funny, no one says the V6 is "inferior" to the SS though.
Other feel "you have to buy what I bought or your an idiot" for various reasons.
We've also had folks with the "you're a poor boy in the LT1" attitude.

All of that is crap.

As I said, we all have our reasons for the cars we choose. That's always been the beauty of this platform.

Some like the looks, some like straight line performance, and some to track the car. In the end, we're supposed to be here to help each other, not tear down, and it seems like there is too much of the later going on.

The v6 is not inferior to the SS.

For me its more of I know what place my LT1 is in with SS Tires it handles the same as an SS due to being the same suspension. I also find myself getting annoyed with the incorrect information from both sides. The LT1 never came with an FE2 suspension for example so I just corrected that false info. I will also never say an LT1 will handle as well as a 1LE but that doesn't mean it doesn't have good handling but a 1LE will blow a LT1 out of the water.

Arguing and insulting each other doesn't help people make a decision. This is a super common question that all of us consider at some point in the ordering process. Even if we don't choose one of the two, we considered them even if for a brief moment. Budget plays a role in all decisions and saving money is a good thing. If you can be happy with less, then be happy with less. The LT1 is less than the 1SS, no question, the equipment list speaks for itself. But that's how trim levels work, you pay more and you get more. Simple. I didn't like spending over $40k for a Camaro and it was really hard for me to do so. You can keep a LT1 under $40k, you can't do that with a 1SS. If your budget is $50k, then you have a lot more options to consider. Most of the people looking at the LT1 vs 1SS are trying to justify the price jump. We talk about drag or track, how to upgrade, etc., but for people wanting a street car that they will leave stock, those arguments or comparisons aren't helpful.

I haven't owned both and I've only owned the SS for a week, so I don't have personal experience comparing both. Those that have owned both, their input is more useful, IMO. Those of us with one of the two can say why we made the choice, but that's just our decision and doesn't apply to anyone else. Our preferences are just ours, and preferences change. Facts should be correct, for sure. And discussing what option packages there are is useful, but that info is readily available so there shouldn't be a debate on available or standard equipment.

I spent a solid 30 hours reading and comparing, building options on the configurator, and discussing with my family. With no cars to drive or even look at in person, it was a weird place to be in. This forum was very helpful and I read a lot on here, but still had a lot of questions. My dealer only received 7 allocations for the year and none were going to be in stock. They wouldn't even let me sit in a car that was spoken for (which is fine). I bought a car I had never driven, never sat in, and never seen in person with that option configuration. It's a weird time.

I preferred the LT1 grille until the 1SS was in my garage and I got a really good look. Now it's my favorite, but I realized that it's because the car is black. I preferred the LT1 when the body had color. Renderings didn't do the front justice because details were so hard to make out on a black car.

I think the car looks awesome, I regret nothing, and everyone who sees it is impressed. It looks awesome and aggressive while being easy to drive into parking lots. It feels great on the road, not harsh (and our roads suck). I have no idea what the auxiliary coolers will do in the winter when there is snow packed in them... i'm assuming it will melt it then it will re-freeze. Yes, this car will see snow... soon. I got my Blizzak tire/wheel package today.

I was raised a Chevy man (67 years young). Have owned 6 Chevelles (3 SS), 1 Camaro RS, 1 84 Monte Carlo SS, 1 79 Corvette, have owned 35 years. Bought my son a '17 Camaro RS new 5 years ago. The 1st time we sat in a Gen 6 was the day we drove an hour and a half to pick it up at the dealer as it was transferred to MS from an AR dealer. My advice: buy what you want that is in your budget. Camaros look set to die a second unfortunate death again after the '24 model year. Don't look back later with regret on not getting exactly what you wanted as you may want to keep this great car even a lifetime. I hope my son does (21K in 5 years). He gets compliments every where we go.

Why don't you buy a ZL1 that has a SC and would be under warranty?
