For the money and the looks, the 6th gen Camaro V8 is a better choice.

I gave my Camaro to my son and now that he is graduating UT in ME he just shipped it to me, saying dad I got my heart set on a manual Supra. Luck I had an extra garage space so no 340 six pack for me.

I was disappointed that the GR Supra has fake plastic vents all over. I'd rather have real vents or no vents, especially at that price.

Over the weekend I got around to reading the latest print issue of Motortrend that I received. In a somewhat old comparison of the Supra and the Z, since the online article I believe came out in September, the Supra came out the clear winner. However, the writer couldn't help but put in a plug for the Camaro SS 1LE.

"All said and done, the Toyota Supra is a better sports car here than the slightly less expensive Nissan Z. We could point out the fact that the Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE costs less and is worlds better to drive than either (plus it's quicker than both in the quarter mile), but let's keep our eyes on the nostalgia prize."

Last year this time I was all about the new Z and if hadn't been for all the delays I might have. I'm glad now that I decided to pull the trigger on an SS 1LE.

My 1LE was my first dive back into "sporty" cars since before kids and my first rear drive car. It's absolutely amazing to drive, especially on track where it reminds me a high performance go-kart, albeit larger and more heavy. However, because it's the bargain of the century, I didn't bother cross shopping it (let alone test driving it) with anything else except a mustang which seemed to offer only performance shortcomings at a higher price.

Despite this, I can honestly say I have no regrets with my decision.

Not only that but if they retested with the A10 it would be even faster.

If your talking build quality technology and German engineering well made in Austria the Toyota we all know the camaro interior is garbage with fake leather it’s not comparable to the new 2023 gmc or GM higher end trucks and tahoe which it should be

Not necessarily true. Regarding the ZL1 manual vs A10: "Upon taking it out to Willow Springs raceway, professional race car driver Randy Pobst finds that he can beat the automatic version by .32 of a second. That is by no means a country mile, but it's a boon to the Save The Manuals campaign because it proves that not all automatic cars are better."

Have you been in a modern 3 series? The interior leather is just as crappy as the 6th Gen, not better. 3 series is what’s closest in price to the 6th Gen. Also when looking at the exterior the 3 series paint has just as much orange peel as the 6th Gen. German cars are just living off the reputation they had made that they are “nicer” vehicles. They definitely were in the past. It’s no longer true however as the rest of the world has caught up. If the nice “thunk” noise German car doors make when you shut them is enjoyable to you then by all means go German. Other than that the interior and exterior quality is equal now.

Motortrend just tested the Supra manual against the new Z. The numbers are as expected not great as the automatic. Acceleration, handling and braking numbers are not as good as the latest manual camaro ss 1le they tested either. The car is actually so much lighter than the ss 1e and puts down pretty much the advertised numbers to the wheels. I was expecting a little more performance out of the A91 MT to be honest. Camaro SS 1le is also one of the honorable mentions in Motortrend’s article as a cheaper but better driving experienced car.

The altitude correct hub dynos and then use STD which is unicorn power and yes a unicorn is a horse. Get a dynojet uncorrected number and let me know.

I gave my SS to my son and when he found out the Supra was going 6m he gave the SS back to me, saying no thanks dad, I’d rather make payments on a Supra.

Gotta update your post with the most recent Supra manual lightning lap result:

2023 Supra M6: 2:55.6. It's creeping up on the SS 1LE M6.
