Is it possible to Upgrade Base suspension to a 1LE suspension?

I was wondering if its possible to upgrade an LT1 suspension to the 1LE package. Is that something that has to come from factory or can you upgrade any Camaro to the 1Le suspension?

I would say not as it's programed into the drive modes of the ECM and BCM's, not to mention the wiring harness.

1LE suspension for the SS is pretty much mostly suspension pieces from the ZL1. Other than the MRC, you can add on any extra FE4 pieces

Instead of magnetic shocks, you'd want some good quality coil overs, these will work even better and you won't have the fuss of trying to add electronics the car didn't come with in the first place.

The LT1 does not have the eLSD or MRC and you can't option them either. You can buy coil overs, better sway bars and end links, and upgrade the rear bushings but you'll never duplicate the 1LE track package on a non 1LE car.

I think the cars have to be built with MRC which comes with the 1LE if I am not mistaken.

So to answer the question. No after the car is built you can't add MRC to the vehicle. Maybe competitive aftermarket but won't be MRC.

Yep, that’s right.

In my opinion, it’s a waste of $ trying to modify a LT1 or base SS to perform like a 1LE. Yea, you could add some suspension bits, lower some, add bigger wheels and tires…But, straight up trading in the LT1 and buying a 1LE is the way to go. You’d get so much more for your $.

There is truth to this, but 1LE wheels and tires with the big brake setup bridges much of the gap between the stock SS (with MRC) and the 1LE, and to some (including yours truly) this may be sufficient.

I don’t disagree with you, upgrading after the fact does wonders, but the $ spent on the wheels, tires and brakes adds up (and you’re still not getting some of the other niceties). In the end, still a great upgrade..

I’ve yet to drive a 1LE (the one I wanted to drive was pre sold). I’m very curious how it stacks up on the street against my base LT1, with LE wheels and tires /mildly aggressive alignment. My guess is there will be a noticeable difference (in favor of the 1LE).

Yeah, the 1LE is superior even compared to the SS (I didn't even mention the seats), and the cost of piecemeal upgrades does add up. Alas, this package was not available with the auto trans in 2018, if it had been, I sure would've optioned it in, as that would've made financial sense.
