I like this part, when MT compared the Mach1 to other Mustangs and the SS1LE:


Bow-Tie Surprise!


There's just one small, bow tie-wearing wrench to throw into this whole mix: the sixth-gen Camaro SS 1LE.

The last V-8-powered 1LE we tested doesn't just roast the Mach 1—it beats every Mustang mentioned here around the figure-eight, and its 93-foot stop from 60 is better than every Mustang on this list, too. A 22.9 second lap at an average of 0.91 g is nothing short of phenomenal, and again, better than any Mustang here. Because it isn't endowed with supercar horsepower or a twin-clutch automatic transmission, the 1LE does lose out to the most powerful Mustangs in the 0-60 mph sprint, but it's still quicker than the Mach 1.

3 so huge problems with those pos things that nothing can ever change it.
YOU SIT ON THE JUNK you sit in our cars.
THE HANDLING ABOVE 90 MPH IS A DANGER TO LIFE.
THE CHASSIS IS JUNK. causes the car to bounce all over the road.
not only are our cars faster our cars handle properly.
have way less issues.
look way way better.
sound way way better.
EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING is just way way superior in the camaro.
i'de take a gen5 camaro 2ss over the new gt500 anyday. i just hate with a vengence this junk ford sells

this pos mach1 is just a parts bin car. i mean who buys a car primer grey? you have to be a ragging looney to buy a car that colour. we just bought a new kia. they had a grey one aswell for sale. not a chance i'de have that even if u gave me it.
seen a few mach1 videos on you tube. one the brave driver was trying a top speed run in germany. you could see him bouncing all over the seat and fighting to keep the car in a straight line.

I have to agree with you here. Takes a lot of money and a lot of rubber to get the Mustang to hang with the Camaro, and even then you can tell it's holding on for dear life to avoid falling apart while chasing the Camaro.

The Camaro does it easier and cheaper.

having driven about 3 to 4 million miles in my life i can judge pretty quick if a car is any good or not.
the s550 reminds me of how 1980's cars used to drive. we had the ford sierra here in europe and for me these cars drive nigh on the same. the s197 drives exacly like a 1976 for taunus because underneath it is.

I want someone giving Randy Pobst a late model ss 1le with some CUP 2s and go head to head against a Mach 1. Both manual or auto. Even though the camaro is undertired ( i believe Mach 1 has 315s all around) it will still smoke the Mach 1. Same day comparison. I think the most you can go without relocating the wiring harness on the 1le is 315s back 295s front with Michelins!

Randy took both to A.M.P. last year. The video is on his personal YT channel. The 1LE(6M) had cup2s and a track alignment, but had something up with the brakes. The Mach(10A) was completely stock. The Mach had a 1:28.6 and the 1LE 1:29.0.

His take away, if the 1LE had it brakes fully in order and the auto the times could easily flip. But also if the Mach had a track alignment it could easily flip back.

The lack of Camaro will indeed have an effect. But I'm wondering if 400Z, Zupr4, and the 4-series to a lesser extent will keep S650 from getting too stale. Although, I think the eventual move to hybrid performance will keep the power bumps coming along on a regular basis for the length of the 7th generation.
