Are you able to tell stock SS shocks from 1LE?

Hey mates,

Are you able to tell the difference between stock factory SS shocks and 1LE at a glance? They look like regular SS shocks with silver springs to me.. Maybe aftermarket?

I'm tempted to upgrade my factory SS shocks to them. I already have 1LE sway bars front and rear. Very happy with them. From my research, these are just plug and play. Any recommendations for additional things/parts to get to make these work perfectly? I know the 1LE guys do some great things with their suspensions but I like good bang for the buck mods like these.

Also, what would be considered a fair price? Much appreciated, mates. Still searching and learning in the group

Visually I'm not sure but I believe they are different, the SS and 1LE use the same coil spring but the shocks are different.

From GM:
2014-2105
Front Strut (1LE) (passenger side) - 22812984
Front Strut (1LE) (driver side) - 22812985
Rear Shocks (1LE) (2) - 23115372

2013
Front the same, Rear Shocks (1LE) (2) - 22812987

The FE6 code on the label tells you that it's a 1LE shock.

Thank you, brother. I see it says FE6 on one of the shocks but I think the spring color threw mw for a loop.

Btw, that is definitely one of the nicest looking white gen 5 1LE I've ever seen in my life in your signature. Those rear tires mean business. Do you have more pictures? I hate to go off topic in my own thread. Hah

True I think the spring coloe just threw me off since I've seen the 1LE set up with black only. Unless it's a custom spring on stock 1le shocks.

Based on my research in this forum, the SS and 1LE surprisingly use the same springs. Thst shocked me. No pun intended

That's just stunning. Would you mind if I download it and use it as one of my alternating my desktop backgrounds?

Also, I just looked up AFE springs and they're nearly 400 itself and drops the car 1.25 inches all around. They're asking $400 fir everything. Seems like a good deal in my point of view.

I have ZL1 factory wheels. I've read conflicting reports in the forum that drop springs can interfere and rub?

Do I need to do anything to make it work?

And do you recommend camber bolts?

Any links for anything I should buy are completely welcomed. I'm still learning about the gen 5 platform and I'd hate to have it in the air and realize I screwed up. Hah. I actually have mild PTSD from that.

Seems like a good deal, not sure how many miles are on the shocks/springs. I have 1" lowering springs in the front and have no issues with my stock zl1/1le wheels as you have. I wouldn't think a 1/4" more would cause any issues, you should have enough factory room to align the car with those springs and wheel/tire setup.

Thank you. I'll go ahead and buy them. I just asked and they said it's 50,000 miles and off of a 2015. They gave the vin number too. I'll be sure to come back and post the before and after photo.

I may or may not stay with my factory SS springs and use the 1LE shocks.

I can't remember where I found the thread earlier but someone said when switching to 1LE reae struts and shocks, you need to buy something to make it work on the regular SS. Maybe some kind of boot or cutting something? I totally forget and can't find the thread. Gah. Lol. I'll get the hang of all of this one way or another.

Looks good! Maybe someone who has done what you're doing will chime in! Good luck!
