The driver from the commentary video mentioned that his driving keeps improving each year. Testing on the same day with the same driver would eliminate some variables like that and possible weather differences. Randy Pobst did this type of test at Atlanta Motorsports Park and the cars were very close but there were some other variables like unknown brake pads/fluid on the Camaro causing fade and the Mach 1 running a street alignment instead of track alignment if I remember correctly.

I would love to see the Camaro SS1LE VS the Mach1 on same tires at the track
