I heard there'll be a new dealer installed option for 2017, a tampon dispenser. I've never been in a car and said, boy that's too much power. That's like saying a woman is just too hot. It's a pedal, not a switch, modulate it. That reminds me of the corvette forum of the guys that install a module between the accerlator pedal so you can open the throttle faster. I'm lost just push the pedal further.

For me the ultimate purpose of a high hp muscle car is to spank ford "muststinks" and dodge "no-challengers" at red lights, drag strips and racetracks. I have carried the Camaro flag since 1980 when I bought a new Z28 and was really the only guy at my high school with a Camaro Z28 to drive vs. the pontiac "trash cans", 1st gen "fireturds" older olds, new corvettes and a host of fords and buicks. I don't think we appreciate just how privileged we are to drive 650 hp ZL1's these days and now we think that's too much hp? Really? I remember 200 hp Camaros back in the day that did nothing well. You don't have to push the pedal to the floor everyday. That's like thinking that your girlfriends breasts are too big. Come on men! Enjoy the view daily and take a quick ride every once in a while.

There is definitely such a thing as breasts that are too big.

Its one thing to ask if a car with so much power is safe, it's another to demand that A high horsepower car be completely practical. I have no problem owning a car with more horsepower than I can use on the street, even if I never track the thing.

I should have worded my question like that.

Of course, I'm a certain kind of buyer. I don't have a long history of owning high horsepower cars. I've wanted a muscle car since I was a kid. I had a duster with pipes in high school but that's as close as I've come to anything like a muscle car. Now I'm finally at a place in my life where I can afford this car. So I'm buying the idea of a muscle car as much as I'm buying the machine itself. So just owning it will be satisfying and driving it will be a kick!

Unless you've driven a 600+HP car, it's silly to comment on if you would like it or not. It makes driving sooo much more fun. I'll never own another car with less.

I Disagree with the statement about drive-ability of the Z06. A colleague of mine has a 2016 with the Auto and i hate to say it but he's not really a car guy or a good driver but the Z06 doesn't bother him a bit. The deal is that these cars have so many nannies on board you'd have to turn everything off to get yourself in trouble. The Vette just hooks up and goes. I'm expecting the ZL1 might be a bit more of a hand full due to the smaller tires and increased mass but the nannies will still be there.

If you want to see a car that's too much to drive, find someone with a Hellcat and go for a ride. Little tires, 4300 lbs and 707HP make for a scary ride.

Since I am an old f@rt, I have driven high horsepower cars, including 750 hp 14:1 427 Galaxies, that were a handful, but fun. I liked driving the 505 hp 2015 Z28 because of the power to weight and handling balance. Actually the 2016-17 SSs are nice to drive, but I am waiting to see how the ZL1 puts the power down. Dodge dealers are telling me Hellcats have skinny tires for the power and think the 392 Scat Packs are better balanced with power and drivability. I have driven the 2015 ZL1 that seem to float too much fore and aft because of the heavy weight. The Z28 was more to my liking but 505 hp wasn't actually enough for me. The 2016 SSs seem to run nearly as well as the Z28s though. So I am waiting for a ZL1 to see what I think. Even the 1LE is an option too. I drove a Scat Pack 392 in LA a few days ago and it was heavy like the 2015 ZL1. But it had a steel block, something that I like since I might blow a head gasket or two with how I drive sometimes. I really wish they would put a 1500 hp rated steel LSX block in ZL1! That would be nice!

Power-wise, whatever floats your boat. I do however, kind of dislike the "dependence" on forced induction for higher output models. I guess I just really miss the LS7.

Not a HC fan so not sure but doesn't it have a switch that changes the HP output from 707 to something far less?
