Buy what makes you smile when you look at it. Both can be made to go silly fast. I was going to buy a 2010 Z06 and my wife was like, you know you like the look of the Camaro more, and its fast, buy that. Sometimes you just gotta go simple, buy what makes you smile.

Choices, Choices

People change, times change, cars change. In the past 35 years I've owned 6 Corvettes and enjoyed all of them. I was just about to buy another one until I saw a 2010 Camaro being unloaded from a transport truck. Something clicked and I bought a 2010 2SS. Now I have an addition with a 2011 2SS that I received on July 2nd. It will come to you and the decision you make will be right either way. I think Chevy is making cars that people want now! Good Luck!

I have a 99 C5 and a 2010 2LT/RS. I am happy that I have both to select from; however, if I ever have to choose just one; I will choose the Corvette. The reasons are many; acceleration, torque, handling, ride and gas milage. My C5 wins hands down.
With regard to styling and uniquness. I acquired my Camaro last May and spent the summer showing it off at shows. More often than not, it was the only 2010 Camaro at the show and got lots of looks and compliments. It was a lot of fun to have such a unique car; this year I am rarely the only 2010 Camaro at even the small cruise ins. I often show both the C5 and Camaro side by side at local car shows and the crowd seems about split on which they like best. I will admit that I like the styling of the Camaro best and it has placed at a couple of the shows while the Corvette never has. Ther is no doubt Chevy got it right with the 2010 Camaro.
I have always been a fan of both the Corvette and the Camaro. I hope that someday you will be fortunate and blessed enough to be able to have both, but until then I think you will find the Corvette especially the GS, a more satisfying expeirence overall; unless you need a back seat. Good Luck and enjoy which ever you select.

WELL i am not sure about the points [loosing] you will loose some as the time goes by but if you still have the card you still can add points to it, you only loose the points that hit 3 years month by month ,and i thought that the max points that one can stockpile was at 3000. But that's you call for me i would wait and see, you probably will loose more$ if you have to trade the VET in at said date

This is an easy one...
Buy the Grand Sport.
When the Z28's come out, buy a Z28 and keep the Grand Sport.

I have a Z06, and just bought a 2011 Camaro.
Right now, I like driving the Camaro better, but I am sure I will come to my senses.

No kidding! I didn't know that. That's pretty cool.

2010 Vette GS: 3.9 sec 0-60 mph / 12.2 sec @117mph 1/4 mile

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...est/index.html

2009 CTS-V automatic trans (manual trans 1 tick slower in each category): 4.3 sec 0-60 mph / 12.4 sec @113.7mph 1/4 mile

http://www.insideline.com/cadillac/c...lac-cts-v.html

I anticipate the Z28 being faster than the CTS-V, but even if it is I wouldn't say it is going to smoke the GS Vette.
Wait a minute...If you look at the CTSV stats tested by Motortrend the same mag you used to test the Grand Sport. You'll see the stats are almost identical. 12.3 in the 1/4@117 mph. 0-60 in 4.0 secs. The power to weight rato is the same for the CTSV and the GS.
Now if you put the 556hp CTSV engine in a 4000lb Camaro. (current weight is 3800lbs.) The power to weight ratio is a lot better for the Camaro. If the Camaros HP comes in at 575HP or more...obviously the advantage grows. Expect to see 2012 Z28s in the 11's in the 1/4.
But having said all that. I think the GS is a nice car. I hope you enjoy it. I personally would wait for the Z/28. Unless of course you can get both.

I too have both, but there is no comparison. The Camaro is fun. The Z06 is a beast!

there's more to drag racing then power to weight. yes it plays a huge part but so does gearing. you can have a high out put motor and 2.73 gearing and a decent output motor and have 4.10's and the cars weight about the same. . .who do you think is going to win the acceleration competition? the one with better gearing. granted you also have the transmission gearing/shift points to play with. but over all it's not just simple power to weight ratio.

Duhh! Of course gearing is a factor. I didnt even mention gearing...because I seriously doubt the tranny gearing and final gear ratio will be much different between the GS and the Z/28.
BTW... I've been drag racing at dragstrips since 1986. I know a little bit about it.

GS 6spd manual
1-2.97
2-2.07
3-1.45
4-1.0
5-.71
6-.56

Final gear ratio-3:42/1

Camaro SS 6spd manual
1-3.07
2-2.07
3-1.43
4-1.0
5-.84
6-.57

Final gear ratio-3:45/1

Yep. Then you'd be approaching Zr1 territory.
