Dealer-Oil change or DIY?
So does nobody trust their dealerships to do the oil change, or do you just WANT to change your own oil?
Is it just me?? I think I just have trust issues. |

Mine did too, they gave me a "coupon" for it. But what about after that?

I usually alternate between me doing it a couple times then having them do it.
They actually do safety checks whenever the vehicle is on the lift, I do mine on jack stands where it is a bit more difficult to 'see' things.

How many miles are you guys going to wait until your oil change? I have read some are doing 500 miles and others are waiting till 1,000 to 1,500 to do their first. I do have trust issues with my dealer service but I guess they would be the best option.

Depends on the dealer. Some are great, and some you'd be better off trusting a blind trained ape high on angeldust.

Just imagine all the hands that were on your Camaro before you got it. The guy that drove it up on a train to ship it across the country. The Camaro is a very wide car, there isn't much space on the sides... did it get scratched? And think about the guy who drove your Camaro like an effin' rental once he got it down off the train... did a couple donuts... gunned it around a turn... then eased it up on the back of a truck to be shipped to your dealer.
Now you don't want to let the hispanic mechanic at your dealer pop an oil plug and replace your filter? You're being silly ;-) |

I change my own oil just because I enjoy servicing my own vehicles. Not a trust thing, just enjoy it as a hobby and save a couple bucks at the same time. I would trust a dealer much much more than the drive thru quick oil change places.

I'd prefer to have the dealer do it since they are GM certified and trained with this Car. Plus, I got a coupon for my first oil change, and even if future ones costs more money I trust them more than a Joe Shmoe place.

For me it is a trust thing. I've seen dealers do WORSE jobs than jiffy lube type places, and charge twice as much. Just because the building has a bowtie on it doesnt mean they arent paying some retarded high school drop out $7/hr to change your oil. Remember, a dealer is a privatley owned franchise- all staffing decisions are left up to the owner and management, and Chevrolet/GM have absolutely no control over it.
I do every single thing I can myself, because I've been screwed over too many times paying other people too damn much to do it for me. |

I think you have to have it done at a shop to keep the warranty valid. Just take your own royal purple quarts.
Uh correct me if wrong. Also I am sure some dealers would be cool with it but some might burn you. |
