Proud Owner - 1LT RS Victory Red

After much discussion with my wife, we pulled the trigger and bought a new Victory Red 1LT RS with an automatic transmission and the connectivity package. I was really looking for a manual, but based on the manual transmission production issues, I was fine with the automatic. The dealer would not accept the GM Friends pricing on the Camaro which was a bummer, but since it expires on July 31, it doesn't have enough shelf life for me to order a build or find another dealer with this car on his lot. I was able to buy it at MSRP with $4250 ($3500 Cash for Clunkers and $750 USAA Discount) in rebates, so it was a reasonable deal. That said, I am really psyched about owning this car.

I drove it home last night with my 8-year old daughter in the back seat, and not only was it a joy to drive on a few of the winding roads near my house, but my daughter's commentary from the back seat was priceless. She kept talking about how comfortable the seats were and how it doesn't drift when we go into sharp turns. I hate to admit, but I am looking forward to driving to work this morning. Not many people probably say that.

Be Safe,
Scott

Congrats on the new Camaro! Nice choice on the color, too!

The recent manual transmission issues were with the SS models and not the V6 models so you would have been fine there. Well, except that the V6 with a manual does not qualify for the Cash for Clunkers program and you would have lost out on the savings between the $3500 credit and the cost of the AT option plus the additional $200 upcharge for the remote start option with an AT and the C&C package.

There was never an issue with manual V6. I personally would not settle for an auto but congrats on your car.

Vash,

My trade in was a 2000 2WD Jeep Cherokee with 110K miles. It was a very reliable car and served me well, but my 1LT is a major upgrade.

rolnslo,

Nice pictures of your ride. Obviously, great minds think alike. I am waiting for a sunny day to take some shots of my new ride. I'll post them soon.

rockies4,

I drive about 30 miles each way (almost all highway), so I got some quality drive time. It was a blast. Getting up to speed was no issue, and it handled beautifully. I have to admit, I tried very hard not to look around at people staring. My biggest fear was parking it in my parking space, but when I got out, I was between the lines so . . . Now I have to master the tap shift, and all will be right with the world.
