I've found where I saw the variation. It was mentioned earlier in this thread that DOT equivalent rated helmets will be acceptable and agreed upon by Pete. I'd rather not have to buy a new helmet, but want to make sure I have one in time if I do!

Thanks guys.

HELMET RATINGS...WHAT DO THEY MEAN?

Auto racing helmets are rated by the Snell Foundation as either SA, M, or K rated...

Snell SA Rated Helmets:
Snell "SA" (Sports Application) rated professional helmets are designed for auto racing and provide extreme impact resistance and higher fire protection.

Snell M Rated Helmets:
Snell "M" (Motorcycle) rated helmets are designed for motorcycling and other motorsports. They offer slightly less protection than SA rated helmets.

Snell K Rated Helmets:
Snell "K" (Karting) rated helmets are designed for Karting applications. They are subjected to the same test standards as SA helmets except the do not require a fire retardant interior.

What are the key differences between SA and M Rated Helmets:
- SA standard requires flammability test while the M standard does not.
- SA standard has rollbar impact test while M standard does not.
- SA standard allows narrower visual field than M standard (Some SA helmets aren't street legal).

My Snell Helmet that passed inspection for Camaro Cross at Fest 6 should work for Fest 7 shouldn't it ? I bought it in 2015 just for this purpose.

You good. Bring it and have fun. Check to see if it is SA2010 or SA2015.

As far as loaner helmets go, will this cause more waiting to race or less time racing in any way? I've read about people having to wait in long queues for them and not being able to race as much, at other events.

It would be super ideal if there were some vendors selling helmets at the event. I plan to get one, but want to make sure I enjoy autocross enough to make the investment. Although I really dont have much concern about not enjoying it.

Hopefully not and it certainly would be great to have a vendor selling helmets.

Pete feel free to clarify if I'm missing something.

So if we have purchased a DOT helmet already they will not be acceptable now?

The rules posted under the CamaroCross section are clear. I did mistakenly post incorrect information.. Bring your receipt and I'll be sure to get you a loaner, bump you to first in line for a helmet. What size and what session..

If possible, return it so you can invest in a motorsport appropriate helmet.

No Worries Pete. Thanks for the clarification. I'll try to return and find another compliant one. Just glad to find out now before we go.

deButler, Here's where I got my helmet. Its the best price I could find for a full face SA2015. I figured if I'm going to buy one I may as well get one that will be good for a while! Best of luck in your search.

Hey Pete,

Looking to get this done. If all goes to the current plan, I'll be in town Wednesday morning. What fluid do you recommend and how much will I need to bring with me? Can't say as I've ever flushed a brake system before.
