Car is back and running fine...

Heres the jist of what the service tech explained:

Having shown him the video from the car cam, he said at time of start-up my hood was up and forced HOT AIR into the CAI and trip the sensor thinking it was overheating.....

Secondly, he showed me all the CODES the report generated and it was detailed.

The computer is so sensitive it knows if you changed a light bulb for the license plate.

And thier were enough changes I did to the car, it had about 24 codes he showed me. Changes from the light bulb for license plate, to the METRA KIT, to CAI, etc...

So it was a simple reboot. I might try just disconnecting the battery before I go waste time at the dealer.

That kind of advice is bad for business!

With all the changes to that car, I'm surprised the dealer didn't say "can't touch dis."

I have this same issue A/C Off Due To High Engine Heat. The car has been in the shop three times. No one can figure it out. The first trip to the shop radiator was replaced a long with the thermostat. Second trip thermostat and sensor. Third trip yesterday they changed the antifreeze and flushed the system. Now they want to replace the water pump along with the thermostat and sensor again. Both fans work and every time this pops up the car is not over heated. Why does GM pretend they have never heard of this issue and why do the dealerships not know how to fix it? There are thousands of complains on line. Oh yeah the ECM has been rebooted numerous times.

I have had that code pop on my car several times, P0116 (ECT Circuit Range/Performance), and every time it popped, I got the "A/C off due to high engine temp" as well as both the water and oil temp gauges would "zero" out. I also run scan gauge, so I knew my car wasn't running hot.

I went and bought a new ECT sensor, thinking mine was faulty, and replaced it. It did not solve the problem. Come to find out, it was the 160* thermostat that I installed, when I installed the Whipple, that was triggering the fault code. The ECM is looking for an ECT in the 195-210* range, and when it doesn't see it, it usually triggers the P0116 code.

My final solution was using HP tuners to disable fault code P0116. There are at least two other codes that monitor ECT, so I'm not the least bit concerned that I disabled that particular code.

I have had this happen on my Tahoe and impala it is the thermostat sticking and not coming up to temp as the computer thinks is should as a result the computer turns off A/C disables temp gauges and turns on radiator coolant fans

Both cases the rubber seal on the thermostat was coming apart replaced and no more problems I think the code i had was P0128

I have this issue as well when running with my 160* thermostat when the temp is below 35* out. It triggers because the coolant takes too long to come up to temp. if I reflash my tune everything is fine for a while and my temp sensor reads out again like normal.
