Paint Issue on New 2022

Hello everyone,

Just picked up my 2022 Wild Cherry Camaro recently and after the first wash I found some paint issues inside the trunk.

Any idea what could cause these and how to fix it? Incomplete clear coat, etc?

I did not notice it upon delivery or I would have said something, did not think I needed to look inside the trunk.

First two pictures is where the paint looks lighter (1st Spot).

Last two it looks like the paint is bubbled (2nd Spot with and without flash).

It's a new car, take it to the dealer and get it corrected.

It's in the trunk. that's not part of Fit and Finish.

I plan on it… I’m asking if anyone knows what it is before I take it to the dealer so I can make an educated decision.

I want to avoid any fishing expedition by employees at the dealership who don’t care about my car like I do.

Thank you dp. Would this require a total repaint to fix then? I’d like to avoid that on a brand new car.

So what does that mean, it’s ignored by QC because it’s in the trunk? Doesn’t seem right to me.

I wouldn’t let a dealer touch my car for a defect there.

As a general rule. The potential for harm outweighs the good

I agree, as long as it isn't rusting and isn't visible when the trunk is closed, I'd leave it alone... Dealers are far more likely to cause further issues than to correct something that is basically irrelevant...

OMG! It's in the trunk.

This would be a great way to alienate your dealer!

If I was concerned about the potential rusting, I’d hit it with some spray clear coat, or more than likely just a couple coats of wax. It’s in the trunk… and others have said, you’re looking for trouble going to a dealer with something like this, especially in the trunk.

When they complete a paint job they have a set of eyes go over the every inch and when they see a defect they fix it. It happens all the time. I have a finger print on my rear quarter panel that was fixed no one else could can see it and I would only saw it when I did a full correction and coating. I would not worry about either one just keep an eye on the one and if you see it grow (start to rust) hit it with 3000 grit and touch up paint but that's several years down the road. Drive it and enjoy it.
