Mileage - how high is too high. SS camaro

Hey guys.
I'm looking to pick up an SS but mileage is near 30k on a 2016 model. I would normally pass anything above 20k but it's a pretty good deal.

My BMW (which is known to cause issues) rides like brand new at 42k miles. Never been to a shop, never had a problem.

Am I taking a huge risk picking up the SS with that much mileage? I'm sure the V6 would be ok but the 8 cylinder engine and transmission has been taking a pounding for 30k miles.

Anyone here with over 30k miles or around have issues? I personally would drive the car hard, am I about to drop the whole tranny?

Opinions please

Shoot, about 15 years ago I co-drove a 4th Gen Z/28 Camaro in an SCCA national-level autocross competition that had 275,000 miles on the original engine with a lot of events in its history. It was a little down on power, but I wouldn't think twice about a 30k SS unless there were signs it's been abused.

You're not taking any more risk on it being a V8 vs a V6 imo.

Keep checking the pipeline. I traded in my 16 2lt with barely 13k on it last month. My 15 lt refresh had less than 9k when I did the same...

Roostie: wow 275,000. I wouldn't expect it from anything but a Toyota.

Chris: I was thinking V8 owners will push the car more since the V8 is the main reason they got an SS. Aside from the looks. I'd say 50/50.

Luv: 9k and 13k sound so much more appealing.

If I just wait a few more months I think there will be a lot more inventory on the market as many owners will want to get the new model that's coming out very soon. I'm just being very impatient and impulse buying. This is exactly what I do with stocks -_-

Those miles aren't really anything to worry about so long as it's been cared for, a lot of the mileage stigmas are just that.

Check the MPG thread, seems most members go quite easy on their cars if they're getting 20+ MPG

Extremely unlikely given the reaction to the refresh here, Reddit, GM Authority, Jalopnik, Autoblog, YouTube and basically everywhere else on the internet...

I had a c6 corvette 3 years ago I bought with 160k miles stock and that thing ran like a raped ape without Any issues what so ever. I raced it for 3 months and sold it. The current owner absolutely loves it and daily drives it to this very day! No engine lights on, no issues. It's all about maintenance records op no matter if it's an ls platform or an lt platform.

And there are also people that get their dream SS and baby the hell out of it more than anyone would think of babying a V6 version. So it basically evens itself out if you ask me.

Wow your worried about 30k miles, Id be looking for one with the most miles that is what I want so you can get it for cheap. Miles usually mean its been a commuter and highway driven in my opinion.

That is probably average mileage per year if you think about it. If purchased in 2015(2016 model Year) that is about 10k a year give or take. Nothing out of the norm. Id be more concerned in talking with old owner and getting a feel for if they care for stuff and maintenance records.

Side note: 4th gen days, buddy's family owned about 4 B4C's that the state police flogged well over 100k miles. Against my Z and others those flogged police cars seemed to run harder. Always pulled away stock for stock and same bolt ons later. FYI B4C's had next to no real production differences, PS cooler, alternator, BS like that. Seen some other examples of this over the years, but engines run hard seemed to pull harder. Could be shenanigans though.

It would have to be a substantially good deal for that high of mileage, imo.

Like ~$25000 - 26000.

It seems ones with <20k miles are going for the upper 20s now a days.

My '16 has just under 31K and I purchased it last spring with 27K. No issues what so ever.
