Replacing serpentine belt, has anyone hear of doing this?

I looked up how to change my serpentine belt on YouTube and saw this video about soaking the belt in 303 Aerospace Protectant before installing it. Has anyone ever done, or heard about doing this?

Should I do THIS?

Yeah, I saw how easy the serpentine belt was to change, I thought there was only the one belt?

What did you think of using 303 Protectant on the belt?

Just use a ratchet to shift the tensioner pulley and you can pull it right off, and then pull up a belt schematic on google.

The AC belt is a little tougher, but there is a trick involving putting a zip tie around the belt and one of the spokes of the crank pulley and using a breaker bar to turn the crank.

I have the V6, I believe I only have the one belt. Whenever I try to look it up it says for the 6.2.

Don't put crap on your belt. BTW, why are you changing it?

I'm at 91,000 miles. I plan on doing the belt and plugs in the next month or so. Cheap insurance.

Can't argue with that at 91,000 miles.

Just don't goop the belt up with snake oil.

I know exactly the video you are talking about. He also says to spray your tires tread and all, inside and out. You wouldn't spray it on your brake pedal because it makes it slick. I know what he said in the video, but logic makes me a skeptic. Not like it's a expensive part or hard to put on, so why try it?

Yes the v6 has only one serpentine belt.

If it makes a brake pedal slippery then it will more than likely make the pulley slip. A good belt will go for a large number of miles without an issue. Don’t put anything on your belts or you will be replacing them sooner than later.
