Quarter Window Seal Disappeared

2013 Vert owner .. rear passenger quarter weatherstrip was lost in my last ride with the top down. Searched interior with no luck. I'm reluctant to buy whole quarter window ($300) just to get weatherstrip replaced. Many part sites show the 2013 version is not available. I did find the 2016 quarter window for $70. Can't tell if the weatherstrip is the same as what is on the 2013 quarter window. If it is, this would be easier on my wallet than the 2013 version, assuming one could remove 2016 seal and place it on the 2013 window. Does anyone have any idea if the weatherstrip on 2016 model is same as 2013 model? TIA

Do you have a local "bone yard" around? If so, I would look there and see if there are any wrecked Camaros and pull it from there. Save a lot of money!

Cool Inexpensive Fix/Alternative

I may have found a solution that doesn't require a new window purchase. I will post back after I apply this fix.

Was considering getting the 2016 window just for the attached weatherstrip due to the price difference, $300 (2013) vs $70 (2016). However, I’m going to try a $10 solution, for all intents and purposes, should work.

Window Seal, aka weatherstrip installed

Bought a 2-inch door sweep (instead of 3-inch one) from Amazon, as it was closer to the width of the original weatherstrip. I cut it to exactly 12 inches with the top at a slight angle to match the top of the rear quarter window. After removing the protective strip from the adhesive, I was able to work the bottom of the sweep between the rubber and the bottom of the glass and align the rest along the window edge. The top of the cut door sweep lined up with the top of the window. The only issue I ran into, that I haven't resolved yet, is that with the top up, when I tried to raise the rear window to the closed position, it would get half way and then auto-reverse back down into the body. After several tries, it finally would rise and seat into the channel of the top, so I left it alone, with the top up. I'm not sure what is causing the reversal, but I will try to troubleshoot it later. It is not a perfect solution, since the door sweep does not have a 'steel' back to support it, like the original. However, it does seal enough to keep light moisture out. I'm not sure if it will prevent a heavy rain from entering. The wider 3-inch may work better, but the 2-inch looks like the original strip from afar .. it's a closer match. I'll try to add pictures, as soon as I figure out how to do it here.

On the top of your "repair" piece, check the thickness of it where it goes into the top, it might be just a tad too thick and it is getting caught in the tops channel. Taper it a bit on the very top side and see if that fixes it. The auto reverse back down is indication the window is geting pinched somewhere. It's one of our safety features on our windows. GL.
