Yes, your SS should have run flats on it, that's why you have no jack or spare in the trunk.

I would definitely not try to screw it in farther. Do the smart thing and take it to a reputable shop.

Even if you are the cheapest, most miserly penny pincher there is, you risk far more than the price of that tire. Say you are able to plug or patch it and then it blows out while you are even just doing 65 on the interstate - you run the risk of at a minimum damaging the rim or more on the car and at the worst having a serious crash.

Don't quibble over $400 when you are driving a $40K sports car. Get it replaced asap.

I got a few options here.

I can leave it alone.

I can put some tire cement on the thread not out all the way and use a Philips screwdriver and tighten it in farther until it vanishes inside the actual tread and it won't get touched until the tread drops lower.

Or try a patch or plug.
lol, don't leave it in there and definitely don't screw it in farther!

You have run flats and the outer edges of the tire are the thicker sections so if you go to a tire shop/dealer to get a patch they won't do it because they can only patch the inner/center parts of the tire.

At this point the only safe fix is to replace the tire, but you can obviously leave it in and risk it. Best bet on tires is to try to search the forum for a set of take offs, lots of people upgrade to nicer wheels that are wider and need to sell the OEM ones, I've seen many people post a set of 4 tires for about $400-600, shipping is prob another $100-150 if you bought all 5, but that's better than getting a new one for $425+ a pop from a tire shop or dealer.

A reputable tire shop would not repair that tire for safety reasons. I had the same thing at 6000 miles. went to goodyear store replaced 1 tire and asked if i could buy road hazard for the remaining 3 tires and they said yes. new tire $400, road hazard for 3 tires $75 best $75 i ever spent.

It is not exactly easy to see how much tread is left on that tire. IF you need to replace it, there could be enough of a circumference difference between the other side and the new tire, where it would be in your best interest to replace both tires. Again, IF there is a replacement and enough difference between tires, this could wear on the rear differential (thinking youre perpetually in a turn). The same thing could mess with transmission shifting, again for the same reason, computers could think youre always turning and adjust shift points etc. Again, IF theres enough of a difference. From my experience, Ive been told 19mm (3/4") or more difference in circumference.

Unfortunately, this is the case.

A DIY plug is inadequate, and a tire shop will refuse to do an inside patch because too close to sidewall.

If you buy a new tire though discount tire offers road side protection, so if you get one in the sidewall or any unpatchable spot they'll replace it for free. Keep in mind
