I have a jumper wire going form my sidemarkers to my DRLs...this makes form feed back the halos stay always on and the DRLs act as fogs when the head lights are on.....various vendors sell the harness if you want to just t-tap it, though t-taps short easily and I just spliced..... The Leds for the Drls I have are 13 watt and very bright I think I bought them through phastek or most likely autolightstore.com and gen5diy has instructions on how to pick the right wires to jump I think....

Cool, another reason for me to be happy I waited for a '14

No button for the fog lights sounds dumb, I would have been pissed...

on RS cars they're not fog lights, they're DRL's. not so strange to not have a switch to turn those on manually.

With HID's, you really don't need fogs, they're very good at cutting through weather.

perhaps, they do help with the corners though and if you have your high beams on the fog lights would be handy so you can see immediately in front of your vehicle but I have heard this is illegal but that makes no sense; AFAIK you can have all the lights on all you want so long as they are turned off as soon as you see oncoming traffic (or traffic from behind if you have work lights, etc behind you on some other vehicle)

Fog lights are legal to have on even with oncoming traffic just not high beams so I don't see why they can't stay on even when hi beams are on.

High beams do the opposite of foglights in fog, snow, or hard rain... instead of cutting through it, they reflect off of it and make it harder to see, so using them together doesn't make much sense because the highs will counteract the usefulness of the foglights. I don't know if its illegal to use fogs with high beams, but it just doesn't gain you anything.

Assuming we're talking about using fog lights for their intended purpose, not the asshats that leave them on all the time to look cool.

I wouldn't know about that; (leaving them on all the time to look cool) to me they don't look as bright as headlights; I should clarify but you are absolutely correct however I don't use high beams in foggy weather; I use them on dark nights and fog lights are handy for well fog but other small uses that aren't that necessary but ok.

my 2014 RS fog lights are actually pretty weak compared to the HIDs so even if left on all the time they ain't gonna notice much nor will it help cut through the fog either considering how weak it is.

DRLs in the fog light position is what's goofy to me. Not the lack of an off switch for the DRLs...

You need one of these...
http://www.gen5diy.com/PnP_harnesses...ts/drl-harness

And a set of these...
http://www.gen5diy.com/Lighting/Ligh...-11-watt-5000k

A little pricey total (around $130), but maybe you can find the bulbs for cheaper on from somewhere else. They sell 4300k, 5000k, and 6000k, but in my opinion (and what I bought) the 5000k matches the HID halo's the best.

Takes 15 minutes of work, and looks like it does in my signature pic, below. I love the look. One click to the right of the light control and the halo's are on with the DRL's (which are now HID)

I guess they were faced with doing that or cutting another pair of holes in the front end for DRL's and Fogs... IMO they went the right direction. I don't miss the foglights with the HID's... but when I get in other cars that have fogs and no HID's I sure miss those.
