Cam swap left over bolts….

Mostly wrapped up with cam swap and I have two left over bolts that I can’t figure out. They are 10mm and about 3 inches long. Any have any suggestions?

Maybe under from underneath the front cover of the oil pan? Or water pump?

Good suggestions. Definitely not timing cover bolts, too long and I know I put all those in. These are too short for the water pump unless there are more than 6 bolts for the water pump...

Measure the bolts from under the head to the end. There are a lot of threads on those & might be 60 mm. A bolt about 3" would be 75 mm & not be threaded that far. Is your alternator installed yet?

Lay a scale on the bolt and send the photo. Also add a photo of the bolt head face. I have mine tore down and may be able to match it up for you.

Total length is just over 2” (50mm), and they are 10mm heads. So probably 55mm actual length.

Alternator is installed, used two larger bolts and the stud for that. Is there more?

Any help is awesome, really appreciate you and everyone else on this thread.

I’m usually better at this, but I had to walk away from this task for a few weeks and lost track.

Poking around, it’s possible these are two of the smaller head bolts… I sure hope that’s it! Lol.

I’ll keep looking for a bit.

Thanks man, appreciate it. I’m 99% sure these are two of the smaller head bolts that I must have set in the wrong tray during disassembly.

I don’t have any head bolts here with me. They are in storage. If I get a minute I will swing by there and grab one.

That would likely be it. It’s definitely not any of the other ones.

No worries, I compared to the used ones I tossed in a box and they are identical. Plus I counted and including these two, there’s exactly the right #. Thanks for your help and time.
