Header rubbing steering shaft poll

I'm debating on if I want to get Kooks or Texas Speed 1 7/8" or 2" headers and want to know who has rubbing with any of these options even with the steering shaft bolt replaced. I probably don't need the 2" as the most I ever plan on doing is a smaller cam down the road but i'm just curious who has the rubbing issue.

Wish i had an answer for you now but I did just order texas speed 1 7/8" headers yesterday hearing that it shouldn't rub as much as the 2" if not any. Price wise i was able to get the TSP Headers with connection pipes for $564 Free shipping from juiced motorsports. I also wanted to go with Kooks but texas speed price is hard to compare. Also several people recommended with texas speed to get boot covers for your plugs so they dont melt from touching. Good Luck

X2. There’s a ton of room between the shaft and the tubes with the kooks setup.

There's plenty of clearance everywhere with kooks 1 7/8 long tubes. I didn't have to relocate or otherwise mess with the wiring harness on the right side either

my OEM bolt has a small head and it barely sticks out of the backside's weld on nut. I don't know how there is a "smaller bolt" made. please send me some info on it?

Hey EMTNLSS, I believe a similar poll for post header exhaust leaks would be of interest to members. Even the slightest leak will trigger a CEL if the O2 sensor sees it. Lots of guys have given up on getting a 100% seal at this connection and have welded the connection between their headers and cat/connection pipe. I would submit the poll myself if I was tech savvy enough to do so.
I installed Kooks 1 7/8 long tubes. I aligned my headers and cats perfectly before torqueing the ball and socket clamp to the Kooks recommended value. I started getting intermittent CELs and upon further investigation, noted some very slight soot marks at on the headers adjacent to the clamping bolt on the ball/socket clamp. It should be noted that this leak is so slight, you cannot detect it with the car on a lift, listening with an improvised stethoscope (heater hose). The leak is that small, but it is enough to cause CELs on these cars.

Yea I think i'll probably go with the 1 7/8" TSP ones also for the same reasons. Fitment should be better with the 1 7/8" and I can buy the headers and HPTuners for the same price as just the Kooks.
