Turbocharged V6 Horsepower?
I have a 2012 Camaro RS with a V6 and was wondering about how much horsepower I would have with an STS Turbocharger? I currently have a stock 323 horsepower engine with flowmaster exhaust. Also, what else could I do to it as well (CAI, Suspension etc.)? It said on their website to expect bolt on gains up to 150 hp but that I could also be capable of 620 hp. The 620 horsepower comment is what threw me off so any info on this would really help. Thanks so much!

Also, no comments about trading it in for a V8 or anything like that. Thanks

CAPABLE of 620hp and just buying a turbo kit don't mean much. you'd have to be running 23-25 psi on a massive turbo to get 620hp out of that v6. meaning you'd want forged internals, crank, maybe new valve springs. you'd need all supporting mods and i can garuntee that on this platform, it would not be easy to obtain that number.
on the other hand, anything is possible if you have the money. so, hell, go for it.

150 hp is not ricer math with a turbo kit rx's kit gets you around 400 at the wheels that's much over 400 at the crank so it's not impossible for a base line kit to get you that much but you will need supporting mods and a tune. I would look into either IPF or RX for kits I haven't heard very much from sts and 600 is a little far fetched

Ya 600+ plus HP is pushing it, Ive talked to Tracy a little bit and their kit gets between like 4-470, as Tracy said that is SS Killer already, but getting 600+ HP out of the V6 isn't going to happen, if you want 600+ HP get a SS TT/SC or anything else higher.

Gain from boost varies depending on whether or not you can pump enough fuel in, whether you have enough octane to avoid detonation, the efficiency of the system, intercooler or not, etc....
A 150 hp gain would be pretty significant on its own, but probably doable. Getting to 620hp without blowing stuff all to hell would require re-engineering and rebuilding most of the car (fuel system, cooling system, engine, transmission, clutch, rear end, etc...).

The 2012 has a better fuel setup than the 10-11. delivers more fuel when needed. I am north of 400 hp on my 2012. The IPF kit is great and makes great hp out of the box.

Did they 620 HP at the wheels or the crank? I have an auto and we had it up to about 500 RWHP @ 9 psi before backing it down to 450 RWHP at 8 psi. Given about 20% drivetrain loss 500 RWHP would be about 620 HP at the crank. Now, I have a few more goodies besides turbos and much better turbos than what come with the STS kit. So, yeah you could probably make 620 HP at the crank, but you won't do it with their kit alone.
Do you really want that much power? Adding 150 HP at the crank is almost 50% more than you have now.

Adding 150 HP to crank is about about the norm (a little higher than the norm) for the SC kits. 370+ rwhp on an auto, and 400+ on a manual car is where you'd be at when adding 150 to crank HP and we have seen those numbers.
Over 600 even at crank is a bit stretched at this point. It appears that Gretchen got near to that, but I feel like once you go that far the engine internals need to reworked/forged (which I think he has done or is working towards doing) + your going to need lots of supporting mods. Very few of these cars has put it down where it counts...on the strip. There is some disconnect there that we need to figure out. Suspension/tires/launch/driver/ECM cutting power.......it hasn't all added up just yet.

Yeah, the LNF was an awesome motor. A lot of that technology made it into the LLT and LFX. Now we will see it move up to the V8s. Very cool for all.
