Driving on the freeway and a random piece of something hits my door.

I was driving to work at about 5am and a random piece of what I assume metal hits my driver door causing a big dent and scratch. I was in the far left lane with no one in front of me and about a 60ft median. I didn't run anything over either because I have no damage anywhere else. Only explanation I can think of is someone was on the side of the freeway and threw something or somehow something flew across the median and hit me. I'll probably never find out what hit me or how it did.

Going through my insurance to fix it because it would be about $2,000 in repairs without it. Insurance is marking it as comprehensive so the deductible is cheap and doesn't affect my rate.

Here's a few pictures of it.

Wow that sucks a lot.

But that is something very reparable so it will look brand new once fixed.

Luckily it only hit your door and not your side window.

Years ago, I was driving my C5 Z06 on the freeway when a truck in front of me ran over a piece of sheet metal that was on the freeway and kicked it up and I damn near had it slice thru the passenger side of my car. That was scary, as I had my mom in the car with me.

I have many time seen some crazy shit on the freeway over the years.

I also make it a habit to never follow behind any truck or car that has anything in the back of it or tied down on the roof. I pass vehicles like that with gusto. If anything is going to happen, it's going to happen behind me and not in front of me.

Yea a little higher and who knows what would've happened if it went through my window.

Yep I try to get around cars or trucks that have sketchy loads also so I don't take a chance of anything happening to me.

Damn that's bad. Could've been worse though had it hit the windshield!
