Timing Chain needs possible service (complicated situation)

I have a 2012 LT.

My check engine like came on about 2 weeks ago. I took it to a local shop that I trust to look at it. He found no issues other than it said that my car was running "Lean" and that I should have my timing chain looked at by a dealer.

No big deal.

However, I purchased an extended warranty when I bought my car and so my warranty is covered by Ford. As per them, it has to be seen a Ford dealer. So I called my local Ford dealer and the supervisor was VERY hesitant about having anyone in his shop look at my car.

I'm very nervous now and am not sure if I should just forego the warranty and take it to a Chevy dealer or if I should go ahead and have the Ford mechanics look at it.

Could anyone advise on the best course of action. I want the best possible service for my car.

If you bought your warranty through a FORD dealership and is required through a FORD dealership then it is their requirement to service your car. Regardless of the supervisors feelings you have a signed document requiring a FORD dealership to service your vehicle.
