Just installed LTs with tune but taking to dealer. Why to return to stock tune?
I just installed a set of Stainless Power Long Tube headers with high flow cats. I have an SCT X4 tuner that I use to tune my vehicle for these LTs. I have to take my car in soon to get new tires on it. Why do I have to return it to stock tune when taking it to the dealer and will this harm my engine with the LTs on it if I only leave it stock tuned while it's at the dealer? I have heard that leaving it stock tuned will cause the engine to run rich but would it hurt it to leave it stock at the dealer just long enough for them to put on tires?

Why bother? They are likely not going to put it on the computer if you are only getting tires. And if they did care that much, they will obviously see the headers anyway and bust your chops for it with or without a tune.
I'd be more concerned that someone would take it for a joy ride and hit it hard with a tune that is not calibrated for your modifications . . . |

No you can drive it for a year without a tune and nothing will happen. And why would you care about your tune just for changing tires?? Makes no sense your not getting warranty work or anything. And if u are your already screwed since you tuned it! They can see even if your return it to stock.

Plus if your car is a 2011 as your profile says...warranty is just about done anyways, so just enjoy. Unless you feel like you really need that warranty, than I wouldn't bother.
Mine is also a 2011 and I just had it tuned...I figure I was going to put maybe 3-4k miles on it between now and then end of the warranty. Dealer didn't say anything when I had it in for a state inspection...they Def won't check while putting tires on. If you are that concerned bring it somewhere else for tires, will prob be cheaper anyways.

Agreed, many better places to get tires cheaper!

There is no point. If they want to dig they can look at your flash log and see what you did. You can't hide tuning on these cars.

Thanks man! Is there a reason other than warranty that I should return the car to stock when taking it in for work? Only reason I'm asking is because the guidebook that came with my tuner recommends that I return to stock before taking it to the dealer.
