My 1LE only came with ONE correct axle!!

I've had my car since December and it recently started making a little bit of a knocking noise going in and out of driveways and when I went over sharp bumps (not all the time, but often enough). So I got the car up on jack stands to poke around a bit under there and after looking around for 15min or so, I noticed something a little strange...

Right side axle (the correct, ZL1 axle):

Left side axle...hmmmmm....

Anyone else ever seen this or heard of this happening?! I've seen someone post a pic of a 305 tire on one side and a 285 on the other, and I thought THAT was kinda crazy...needless to say, I'll be visiting the dealer tomorrow!

I don't have a 1LE, but my 2014 SS is the same way....If I recall correctly the engineers designed it for vibration and wheel hop control....

It supposed to be like that. That's the ZL1 set-up.

in case anyone is wondering - I fixed the knock. It was a loose upper control arm bolt. Good to know about the axle engineering, you learn something new every day!

In addition, we do not have the ZL1 axleshafts. We do not have the SS axleshafts. They are beefier than SS, but not as big as the ZL1s. They are 1LE specific

I have the same knock so good to know. I will have to fish around out there tomorrow (later today, it's late) after I put on my breather and new catch can.

And completely 100% wrong. You don't have the ZL1 axles or diff. You have an SS diff with 3.91 gears and 1LE specific axles.
