I am with you I am at 1200 on my 17 SS (put 1152 of them on the drive home and whole 48 miles since 4/14 :( at this rate it will take me until 12/31 to hit the 1500 mile mark.

I just completed the 1500 mile break-in yesterday. Took me 5 1/2 months to finally get there.

For me, the hardest part of the break-in was not being able to drive at one constant speed. Made driving on the freeways a real pain. I'm looking forward to finally being able to use the cruise control.

Sorry....500 miles is for dry-sump Corvette Stingrays. but on our ZL1's it is 1500 miles...so you've got 1100 more to go....cheers....

I sing your praises. I thought I had it bad driving my 5th gen the 100 miles home from the dealer. I would have been a raving lunatic if I had vary the speed for 20 hours.

I made it through break in and now have a few autoX's under my belt. This things sounds absolutely diabolical at high RPM. Loved it before. Really love it now!

OMG this is painful, car now has 45 miles on it...

The throttle is much more linear and nicely responsive than on the 2SS

Crazy torque at even slight throttle and that exhaust in track mode is SICK!!!! love it!!!

It handles awesome!

Break In....

You guys are depressing me....I've not even taken delivery yet and I'm dreading the break in. I'm going to have to drive it on several 2-3 day trips or its gonna take FOREVER.....

I was wondering, I read a post somewhere that true metal break in occurs in the first 20 miles (ie. set the rings, etc.). Theory is you should make a few full throttle accelerations to 4K RPM and then a few 1/2 throttle accelerations, again not exceeding the 4K - then move into break-in rules as documented Anyone else heard of this? I have experience with both superchargers and turbos and the thought of sending full pressure to an engine with less than 20 miles on it makes me nervous.
