If GM & Ford put a 250 hp V8 under the hood today, people would still buy it.
That's not true for everybody, there is a lot of Ford owners that jump ship to buy a Chevy (lots of modded Cobra guys have been getting Z06's) and Chevy owners that do the same. There's some here on this forum that have done the same thing or own both. As I've grown up I have become a lot less brand bias (ignorant) to the point where I don't even let the brand influence my decision. Looks are not even at the top of my list anymore since you cant see the outside of your vehicle when you're behind the wheel.

It's amazing that it's "supposedly" 1 second faster. That's right 1 second not 2...
If you're gonna BS people go for the whole enchilada.

In my opinion, going from a Mustang or Camaro to a Z06 or any Corvette, and to an even greater degree Viper, is just a natural progression of things when it comes to American performance cars. Guys that buy a Mustang or Camaro over the Corvette/Viper definitely don't do it for performance. It's number of seats, price, or personal preference to that make/model. If I could use a Z06 on a daily basis, I would.

A Kenny Brown GT4 5.0 will smoke a GT500 and a ZL1 around the Ring so why does it really matter. Bragging rights don't matter until you win.

I think you are referring to these...

Those were from this car.

Note the cages Ford was using on that development car as well as others we saw photographed testing at the 'Ring.

This car, looks to be blue, doesn't appear to have had the cage (or at least not as elaborate of a cage anyway)...

Great video, but I learned nothing from it. I don't think there could be a more vague representation of the car on the video. We know it's a mustang, that's about it. Caged? Stripped? Tires? Suspension? Who know what was done to that car to get those times.
Nice run anyway.

Now a days ford fans are desperate they will come out with these UFO like stories of a shelby doing that time at the ring. No possible chance it ran that fast at the ring. Ford hasnt released anything since the actual time is plain embaressing. VIR anyone? Oh that s right, a 1LE almost spanked it.

Also, love how nobody mentions the Z/28 beating it with rain on track.

In doing my research on the timing points I took a frame by frame look at GM's Camaro videos. I noticed that with the ZL1 they appeared to start the clock ~6 frames late, but with the Z/28 they stopped the clock ~11 frames early. Both of these instances shaved less than 0.5 seconds off the lap time. Still, I thought it was worth noting...
Wow; pretty funny stuff here. The idea of a manufacturer like GM "fudging" Ring times is pretty laughable. This guy goes through the GM film as though it's the Zapruder film, yet all that's AFTER he's guesstimating a lap time from film sourced from where -- online? If you don't have a clock running in the footage to verify the time, it seems that significant time errors might be introduced into a video that's 8 minutes long -- especially if it's distributed online, in a compressed format that's been copied ad infinitum...

In independent testing DOT 4 fluid has been proven to cure the GT500's brake fade issues.
That's correct as the guys who have done so and tracked their GT500's haven't had any brake issues. Who knows what was done to that car before Randy even got his hands on it.

I doubt that it's stock. If they could have got a stock gt500 around any where near the zl1's time they would have posted it. And since we know the 1LE can slap it around...
