Step backwards I believe ! New technology in the ZL1, Better handling I would think by a small margin, and the inside of any C6 is outdated even when they were new ! But I always thought a jet stream(chrome wheels)blue ZR1 was the best looking beast, until I seen the ZL1 1LE.
Now why dont you find someone with a ZR1 and ask them to let you drive it for a few hours, you could ride together, then let that person drive your ZL1, ride along of course and that would seal the deal one way or another. I kept my cousin C6 Z06 560 hp rear ,it is very nice ! But the ZL1 is just amazing ,inside in out ! The only thing better for long term with the ZR1 is the LS9 with port injection, I think that's the only flaw the LT motors, GM did a better design on the LT5 with port and direct injection. |

My money would not be spent on a car that is already 2 generations old. The ZL1 is crazy easy to add power to.

Neither is a rationale decision - just go with your gut...

The C6 ZR1 is a pretty special car. I had a C6 Z06, the camaro is better then that car but a ZR1 is bad ass car. I also think it will maintain its value better the a ZL1. You can't go wrong with either decision.

One thing for certain IMO. Those ZR1 chrome wheels are one the nicest wheels ever made.

The C6 ZR1 is a bad boy! But, compared the drive of the ZL1, it is unmatched. The A10 is a dream trans and would much rather have that than row gears. I know a lot of ppl feel different. That’s just what I like.

I'm a Corvette guy that owns a ZLE. A while back my dad has a c6zr1. I think given the opportunity I'd trade but it wouldn't be to make a track car more for a garage queen. If you want a track car stick with what you got. I have E50 headers heads cam pulley etc and took it for first post cruise build yesterday and OMG I don't think I'll be able to ever part with this monster

The Alpha chassis is superior to both the C6 & C7 chassis. Enough said.

My non 1LE Zl1 on track with a C6 ZR1..It was an absolutely beautiful car. He had exhaust a roll cage and some other minor work but all done in a very tasteful way. As far as track performance went it didnt take much for me to run him down. (1:30 into the video) I personally wouldnt make the switch but love the car still and would probably own one if I could have more then one toy in the garage.
