Trade the ZL1 for a ZR1??? Thoughts?
Wanted to get some feedback and thoughts from the community.
I love my ZL1. Not too long ago I had some bolt on work done. Headers, E-50, Tune.. the basics. I'm sitting at 650 wheel right now. As luck would have it, I've come across a really nice C6 ZR1 3ZR. Already has some tasteful interior upgrades as many of you probably know these interiors are brutal. With that being said, still has the shift light on the top left windshield and new rims (read: used to have a Drag Pack lol). So the car has been driven hard. It's got a hair under 20k miles. Here's my question: My use of the car is a street car. Maybe autocross coming up but I've never tried it. To be honest, it's a fun around-the-backroads-twisties and as well as the standard dig/roll work on summer nights. Some say I'm crazy and the A10 is the car to have for what I'm looking to do, others tell me to go with the unicorn. That the ZR1 is a better track car if I end up falling in love, and I can make it just as fast, if not wildly faster for less money in the long run (as opposed to Heads/Cam on the LT4). I will say, personally, I think the A10 ZL1 is better suited for what I'm mostly doing. Still can track it too fairly well if I want to. But the visceral, pin you in the seat feeling, violence of the ZR1 was unlike anything the A10 can deliver on. Not sure if that's because I'm on goodyears still or what. The lower stance, and the overall look is just jaw dropping to me on the ZR1 so that's a major motivator. Just thinking out loud. I'd love to hear what you'd do. As far as cost, it's less of a motivating factor and NO, I can't have both. Trust me, I've tried.

You're crazy. If this was a conversation for a C7 ZR1 then you'd be a little less crazy, but even then. Since it's a C6 and you already have work done to your Z, it sounds like a terrible idea. Obviously, most here that responding will be a bit bias.
You summed up the C6 well, great car, wouldn't call it a unicorn, but absolutely terrible GM interior. I drove C6's and C7's before buying my ZLE, and I know I would have regret had I ended up in a Corvette. But this is coming from a guy that really doesn't even care for the C8, so take my opinion as you wish. You have likely already made up your mind, so coming to the forums is a terrible idea honestly. Everyone here will say Camaro, everyone on the Vette forums will say the C6. If you are truly torn, flip a coin, worst case you sell and start over. Good luck man.

Why not? Go for it if you want the ZR1!

C6 ZR1 is old news. Nothing to be had there.

Let's not forget that stock for stock the only thing beating a C6 ZR1 is a C7 ZR1.

I guess I’m in the minority here. I’d take a C6 ZR1 over a C7 ZR1 any day of the week. I don’t care for the C7 at all. I say go for it.

For track use + daily driver, a ZL1 is better than a C6 ZR1. For pure track stock for stock, ZL1 1LE beats a C6 ZR1 equal drivers and tires, but not by much.

I had an H/C/I C6Z06. Same whp as a C6ZR1, but even lighter. I would not give up my ZLE for a C6ZR1. It's weird saying that because the C6ZR1 used to be my dream car.

If you make the swap I think you risk some serious “buyers remorse.”

Your ZL1 is the superior car in every way. Stick with it.

This like most decisions is subjective once you take the money out of it. Like some of the above post I would only consider a C7 ZR1 and to be honest I don't think they are very pretty cars but the LT5 would make me consider it. Good luck with your decision.
