Question Remote Start doesn't seem to work

I know I have remote start on my Camaro. It's a 2011 2LR/RS that should have all those goodies. After reading the manual it appears that the proceedure should go like this:
  1. Press the remote's lock button once.
  2. Press and hold the remote start button on the remote for two seconds and the car should start.
But, here's what happens... After step #2, pressing the remote start button and holding it for two seconds, the parking lights flash and that's all that happens. Am I missing something? Am I doing something worng?

I can live without the remote start feature actually because the Camaro is always in a garage and you don't want to start it in an enclosed space. But I bought it and it should work. I'd like to know how to make it work should the unforseen ever happen and I want/need to use sometime in the future.

You have to press the lock button twice for the car to beep, then you can remote start.

Sounds like it may be "disabled" in your preferences/personalization menu.?

Is the hood, trunk and doors closed? I know if the hood is open it doesn't start.

I didn't know about the 2-push on the lock button, so I just went out in the garage and tried pressing lock twice then start. I got the horn beep, pushed the start button but after 2 seconds the lights flashed and I could hear a selenoid or something under the hood click and that was it. The car didn't attempt to start.

Oh yea, and all the doors, hood and truck are securely closed.

Well yes as a matter of fact it is. Since the car had only 80 miles on it the dealer and I have been fighting a bogus "tighten gas cap" message that then sets the check engine light on. This is something I've posted on in one of the other forum subjects. It goes back in Wednesday for another round of testing, but they can't seem to find it.

Mine works the same as Ron10. Make sure you have the setup the remote start on your radio in the preferences/personalization menu. I use mine almost daily. Good luck.

Happened to my Tahoe ( same basic set up ) Basically in your car on the Miles/Trip menu thingy I cant thin of what to call it right now. Tap through the menu and in options one should be remote start make sure its selected on. ( my tahoe did the exact same thing your describeing ) If thats not it go to the dealer because one of your leads may not be connected right. Also make sure the Parking brake is up idk if that matters but it might just like in the manuals
