New Spring Advice (see pics)
I'm ready to order a lowering spring package from Phasetek, but unsure if I should get 1" or 1.25" drop. Goal is to improve the look for show foremost, I don't track or race.
Tires are (front) 245 45 20, (rear) 275 40 20. Below are pics of the current gaps. Tempted to get the 1.25's, but concerned about the front settling too much and rubbing...? Thoughts, experiences and advice appreciated! First pic is front, second pic is rear gap |

I'd go with the 1.25"
I had a little rubbing on the front wheels, the inner plastic splash guard piece. But once you completely rub out the several square inches of plastic it's gone and won't happen again. I love the lowered look. I did 1.4" lowering springs.

Ok cool. I don't want to install the 1" then be disappointed it didn't noticeably drop. Trying to get a more sinister look.

What are your wheel offsets? If factory offsets you won't have rubbing with either size.

I wouldn't lower it at all. My ZL1 hits every driveway etc. These cars are lower than they should be already!

Depends on wheel package and the offsets.....and if you plan to upgrade wheel/tire package. I have 20x9 +30 squared on 1" drop and it looks good. Could I go 1.25", probably...but as stated, the lower you go, the more you may scrape/rub. Search some photos of 1-1.25" lowered Camaros....you can kinda get an idea. Good luck.

Thanks for all the good points. I bought the car in 2020 with American Racing 20" wheels already on it and have never had them off so offsets are unknown at this point. Here is a full pic of a wheel in case anyone recognizes them and has info.

ZL1s are a half inch lower than the SS and have that integrated splitter, so it's a bit worse for them stock. They do sell marine washers reduce potential damage. I just bought some stainless ones off metric fastener website for $30.

1.25" is perfect with no rubbing even with an aggressive offset.

Depending on your current whee/tire combo..... you won’t rub
Here’s my setup. BMR 1.4 with 295s in the front and 315s in the back. Only down side with springs is that the rebound if you hit a dip is horrible, and you’ll bottom out more often.
