NH Bumblebee went out with a bang.

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted anything in a while, but I visit all the time.
On January 6, I was heading to work, almost made it.
I was 1/2 mile away sitting at a red light when a @#$%^ drunk driver rear ended me.
I was knocked out from the impact. I went 247ft down the road before I ended up on a snowbank. He went almost 300ft.
I think they estimated he was going about 70mph in a 30mph zone.
I happened to look in the rear view mirror a fraction of a second before the collision.
I went to the tow yard on Monday and realized the floor had crumpled because the front passenger seat was up against the console and the back seat was pretty close to the front seat.
The insurance company totaled the car. I already hired a lawyer. It has been a week and I'm still in pain.
The Camaro was designed to absorb a collision. I am just glad to be alive. The safety features worked as well as they could from the force of this nature.
Not sure if I will buy another Camaro with the money. The insurance said it was only worth $8400.
We still have the 1998 Camaro.
We are considering a 4 door AWD vehicle; maybe a Cadillac, Benz, or a Charger with a Hemi.

That really sucks man, sorry to hear you're still in pain too.

And I call Bullshit on $8400. No matter the physical dollar value on the car, the insurance company should be writing you a huge check. I was rear ended in high school by a guy who just "didn't see me". He was sober and genuinely felt pretty bad about it. I took the check that the insurance company gave me just so I could get another car, but then my insurance rep told me that I should have pressed the issue much harder and they would have given me much much more.

Fight insurance don't settle for their first offer look up similar cars with similar mileage on eBay/dealer sites and such to provide real world info. Glad you aren't seriously injured

At the very least, if you wanted to get into another camaro, you can push for the insurance company to "replace" your car. Knew a guy who had a dodge stealth that got totaled and fought the insurance company tooth and nail. They ended up finding another stealth, regardless of actual dollar amount

Hate to see this. That is a very hard hit. So happy the car is so safe it probably saved your life. Hopefully the pain goes away quickly with no long term affects. My wife was rear ended last week and has shoulder pain, but nothing like the hit you took! I am thankful you are posting. I am in Litchfield, if I can help in any way, be happy to.

Sorry to hear about the Camaro but glad you're alive! I agree, fight the insurance for the replacement value of your car.
