I seriously doubt if it makes any real difference for mere mortals. Might be an issue for folks that are shaving anything and everything to save weight, but that is a serious and expensive game.
If you run HPDE classes, my group makes you run with windows down. The cavitation effect has to cause a lot of drag and I am always afraid I will blow out the back window at speed. Popping the sunroof a bit helps a little, but I seriously doubt about more about down force. Then again, I am only getting to 120 on the fast sections. Just take it to the track and have fun. 95% of the time, you will have more car than driver! Takes a lot of practice to need way more expensive things to push it to the limit.

Who cares? You get a sunroof... Lose some weight if you care that much about it and put your seat all the way down to get more headroom(unless you are really tall).

That is something I have noticed about some car guys... they will spend hundreds and brag about shaving 8lbs with lightweight wheels, or CF body panels. Then you notice the huge beer gut.

Sunroof is definitely a must have in my book, would not have it any other way

Unless you are building a full time race car that will spend it's life on the track, then who cares? One of my must haves when shopping was either a vert or a sunroof. I ended up with a sunroof. I spend about 100000x more time sitting in traffic with my sunroof open than I do going 100+mph (never).

I've noticed that there is less air blown inside the Camaro when the sunroof is open compared to other cars I've had where it slid straight back. You wouldn't think it would affect it that much, but being open and tilted up really helps. Look cool, too.

I agree with the majority of the posts regarding the very limited performance detriment having a sunroof. If you enjoy a sunroof in your cars, and you are physically able to fin in the car with a sunroof installed (and keep in mind a helmet if you plan to track or drag strip the car at all), then I would go for it. As I mentioned earlier, I am physically not capable of fitting in the car if a helmet is involved, so we did not want a sunroof.

Sunroof is the only option my car doesn't have. Wish it did, performance be damned.
