Question about Z51 on all trims

Does the aluminum frame designated for the Z51 package available for every trim or just 1LT? There's some confusion on the chevy site regarding this.

EDIT: read somewhere that even non-Z51 cars have an aluminum frame. Please clarify.

Aluminum frame? If you mean by the chassis (frame) then 100% of C7's are constructed of aluminum frame, Z51 or not. The Z51 package is more suspension & handling oriented unrelated to inclusion or exclusion of an aluminum frame.

Where did you see this on the Chevy site? Maybe I'm misinterpreting your reference of 'aluminum frame'?

Right here in the models and specs section:

http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-st...ecs/trims.html

It made reference to an aluminum "frame structure" only under the Z51 1LT section.

But, you did answer my question. That is, all C7's have an aluminum chassis. Thanks

In addition, the chevy site called the 1LT the "lightest" trim, thus it prompted me to believe that the 1LT w/Z51 had a different construction. My mistake.

Oh I see...where it can be a bit misleading. But in any case, the two higher trim levels includes 1LT... so technically it's applicable to all models. In terms of lightness (weight), obviously the 1LT is lighter since it has lesser weight-adding components.
