v6 to v8 help!

I am looking to trade in my 2013 lfx v6 25000 miles, and i decided to see what the difference is to get a v8 and the v8 i was looking at was a 2010 2ss with 32000 miles so after about 2hrs talking with the dealer the lowest they would go is 500 a month for 66 months with no money down. they said they would pay off the balance of my loan of 22k and i would have that v8 for 500 a month for 66 months but i did not think it was a good deal based off of how much i know but i would like some help on getting a v8 and whats a good deal and how to go about it. thanks.

How much are they asking for the 2010? And at what interest rate? Have you looked at what the trade in value of your car is?

Price of the car would help. My 2010 2SS/RS was $25k with 27k miles and I'm sitting about $475 per month and I put very little down. Maybe a better deal was out there somewhere but not in my area for an Automatic & low miles, as just about all of the SS's on the market at that time were 6 spd Manual's.

Don't rush into anything, there is a lot of info missing here.
-How much do you owe on your car?
-How much are you paying for the "new" car?
-What interest rate are you getting?
-Is there any warranty on the SS?

With your car being a '13 with that many miles you are likely upside down on the trade, meaning you have negative equity. That amount gets tacked on to the loan for the SS and banks may only loan up to a certain percentage of the value of a car that is 5 years old. Also with a 66 month loan you will be paying on the SS until well linto the year 2020, how many miles will the SS have on it then?

It sounds like a bad deal to me, you need to keep what you have until you build some equity. You could try to sell it yourself for at least what you owe on it and then start over.

Do some research online, there is a lot that goes into buying a car and the dealer already knows all the angles.

Good luck and thanks for your service!

I would not get a car older than a 13'.

The new models have upgraded suspension parts and are much easier to mod.

The MyLink came in around 13' as well. There are too many great deals out there right now to settle. Take your time and get what you want.

you'll end up paying 33k for that car with 500 per month for 66 months. Seems high for the year and mileage to me. I picked up a 2010 2ss/rs with 23k miles tsw wheels and sub setup in the trunk for 21k out the door, I pay 350 a month.

The best bet for the OP I think you may want to look at buying brand new & take advantage of GM's current discounts. If you have negative equity in your current 2013 then the discounts will eat that away. You could end up with a new SS for a similar cost to buying used.

The guys that find these deals that almost seem too good to be true, I think that depends on where you live, what the situation is that you are buying the car from like private seller or dealer, how many are on the market.

..sounds like they included the amount you still owe onto the monthly payment of the used SS. Dependig on your APR%, you may want trade it in for a new car instead. IMO, I would avoid an SS w/ that many miles, unless you personally know the original owner(s).

2013 is a better deal, imo. As nice as the 2010 is, it has the 21" rims w/ expensive tires. Too bad you missed out on the 20% GM discount. I'd wait if I were you. Once the 2016 SS start rolling out, I'd guess the 'previous' SS market(used/NOS/trade-ins) would be filling the lots(you'd have better selection/better deals). In the meantime, enjoy your V6.
