Resistance is futile...
Apparently so.
There are many benefits of retirement...but then there are the downsides. One being, despite staying active and trying to make every minute of every day count. I still find my self having more time to work on my cars, browsing the web and watching a lot of Motortrend tv. Sadly, this sets my mind adrift. So, despite my efforts to stick to my original plans, I find it difficult to avoid the inevitable. It's time to cam Yes, it must be done. No, I'm not going to be a "what cam should I get," kinda guy......I've already chosen an area I believe will suite my need for speed. I find when I do all the work and listen to myself, I'm seldom disappointed. So, being the old skool guy I am, I'm sticking with an old skool time proven cam. Comp XR265HR 212/218 .558/.563 115LSA. It's not about the hp/tq numbers...its about what gives me the juiciest groove under the curve. So, let's sit back, relax and see how this unfolds.

I loathe you retired folk, always making it sound horrible. Meanwhile I have to finish what feels like a 12 year prison sentence until I hit 55 and press the eject button myself.
Those cam specs are just a C hair bigger than stock... there are a lot of good options out there. Are you sure?

Retirement?? Yea I'm with ya, have a lot of "idle" time on my hands, but I go fishing a lot to take up the time. lol. I was wondering when you were gonna "bite the bullet" and cam her up!! Even with a little cam like you are picking, it won't be stock anymore and will sound good. That 115 LSA is kinda small, but should still give you a nice chop, but it won't be radical like mine, and some of the others on here. Good luck, and getter done!! lol.

Retirement? I'm 15 years away unfortunately, but looking forward to having those "retirement" problems lol. Cam choice is all about what you are trying to accomplish. The cam you have up there isnt very big. But if it fits what you are after, go for it. Me, I'd do the GPI SS1 if I wasnt looking to go huge. Great power gain from that one and you still get a decent chop if you care about that.

I retired at 47. I do occasional consulting gigs just for fun. I enjoy playing with my toys, traveling and moving. I think it is time to build another car. I'm thinking a 2nd gen LS with a big turbo.

As for the cam, I agree. Only a slight improvement over stock. There are far better options out there without having to sacrifice drivability and reliability.

Yeah yeah yeah....us poor retired folk. I guess when you work the majority of your lifetime ..it becomes a way of life. Not as easy to just shut down and live that tv/hollywood idea of the "golden years."
As for cam choice....i picked the 115 lsa because I don't want it to idle like a pro-stocker. Did that before with the '06 Goat....(228/232 .575 112+4) and didn't like it. But thats just me. I'm more a stealth kinda guy....like my tq from 1000-6500 rpm range. Did a baby (220/220 .550 114 in the '04 GTO and loved it. So, we'll see. This is just the initial specs. It may change in the end..but not much.
