Towing Package and Max Trailoring?

So, here's the story. I would like to retire the Caprice Classic once my new Camaro arrives, three cars is too many for just myself, at least in this point in time. But, in order to retire the Caprice, my Camaro (or Cobalt) must be able to tow my Sea Doo, in and out of the water (and of course on the highway). The Caprice handles this task, and my family's other boats no problem, and the Cobalt is not recommended for towing (and i won't either with it). So that leaves only the Camaro. I know Corvettes have had custom set ups to tow boats before, and Camaros of the past as well.

So my question arises, has Chevy released any information regarding trailering capabilities yet? Or am i jumping the gun a little soon?

I plan on getting a 2012 SS/RS, and to my knowledge and understanding, the engine and chassis should be able to handle the tiny little 550 kg Sea Doo. The bigger boats i can leave to my parents vehicles.

A search of the site revealed nothing, so i turn to my fellow enthusiasts in hopes i missed something, or someone has a sharper eye then I.
I imagine i can't be the only one wondering if we can tow something with this car?

With all do respect: j/k

I don't think it will be much more than a thousand pounds with a tongue rating of a couple hundred .

I honestly don't think anyone should tow anything with a Camaro.

haha, i bet you'de say the same for Vettes? This was featured in Corvette Mag a few months ago. Think the same, but with my Sea-Doo behind it, its a little lighter though. Both are LS7 powered (in this photo), and have the LS3 or LS7 option. Also turbo and supercharging are options too.

Honestly, there's something odd about the idea of a trailer hitch on a performance car.

I wasn't being funny.

Want to tow? Buy an old pickup or SUV... you can get one for next to nothing. Tow thousands of pounds with no trouble at all.

haha, i think you missed what i was getting at. I have a 91 Caprice Classic that towes just fine. I'm thinking i'll have to drop one vehicle once the Camaro arrives. hence why i'm figuring on towing with it.
I'll have to get creative too, i want the Ground Effects kit, so the diffuser is going to have a hole in it?

And the car has the rear end cooler, trans cooler, extra big rad, and oil cooler, so i don't see why a Sea Doo would be a problem. And yea, 500 Kg and 80 on the tongue is almost standard with many cars, so thats a good start point/ fall back point.

I do remember there being trailer hitches on the camaro during may of the old spy shots we had, so something must at least be in the pipeline

LSxJunkie, thats how you spend a day at the track right! No chance of wiping the car out driving on DR to and from the track!

I don't think the car will have any trouble towing that amount of weight but I think your challenge is going to be fabbing up a hitch that doesn't destroy the back of the car.
